    Description

    Dear World dwellers!
Here welcome you Manouk (5), Malía (11), Rolf (47) and Karima (43), together with Sissa and Bosse, our dogs. We are a german family, which left Germany 3 years ago, to find a new home in Uruguay. We started here with work away and could get to know the country, the people, made awesome experiences and met adorable people. All of us (not the dogs) enjoyed that time a lot and we would like to offer an experience like this now, too. Since we have found the place, we want to stay, we would like to welcome people to enjoy a beautiful time together. Here we live in the Sierras de los Rocha.
After two years in Uruguay with our family, six months working and traveling and now a year and a half of renting here in the Sierras, we have taken the plunge and bought a field. An old eucalyptus forest that is now allowed to take a new, more natural path. We can call a “little river”, hills and great views our own here and are now striving for a more self-sufficient life based on the principles of nature (permaculture, syntropic agroforestry). We are still in the early stages of this process, but we have help in the larger community and from friends and neighbours who have much experience in these areas.

Three wonderful converted buses are our homes now, and a good start. We live in two of them and another one is available for rent and for work away visiters!

The bus has about 23 m2 of living space and is equipped with air conditioning/heating. It has a double bed and a single bed, a kitchen with a gas hob, fridge, microwave and other full equipment, a dining table and a bathroom with a shower and dry toilet. It offers clean and tidy comfort in the middle of the Sierras de las Rocha.
The farm is located with direct access from Route 109, approx. 10 km behind Rocha and further on towards the small and sleepy “artist village” of Aigua.
It is 15 hectares which were last harvested as eucalyptus plantation in 2024, after 20 years. Due to its geographical shape, there are many places (river, slopes, outlying areas) that invite you to stroll and rest in the native forest. The view from a height of 110 meters to the first range of hills of the Sierras and beyond Rocha to LaPaloma are experiences in the otherwise flat Uruguay of the coast.

The surroundings and our network invite you to eat and ride, to party and enjoy the neighborhood brewery, to shop at the small Saturday market. The different communities, and the village like I would call it, is beautiful, with really nice events and interesting people.
A car is perfect to have. But we can support as much as possible. As well, hitchhiking works good here to get to some events which take place in the "Camino", where is the community and the "village".

Karima: loves music, dancing, sports, nature, laughing, fun, animals, the adventure of life and good vegan food. Sharing stories and experiences, getting to know people, and having lots of fun.

    Rolf:

Manouk: loves to build, make music, move, bike.... pasta and sweets.

Malía: loves Harry Potter, to read, to be with her friends, music, writing stories, theater and sweets.

    Cultural exchange and learning opportunities

We love exchanging, sharing and exploring new worlds and impressions. Ourselves, we had a fantastic time on workaway, we have met so nice people and learned a lot. And not only by working in construction or stuff like that. Being together with people from different cultures, different countries is such a wonderful present, and such a gift. We can learn and enjoy so much just being together, and sharing time and presenting each other a piece of life and love.

In the "village" nearby, are many activities, the neighbors offer beautiful courses and events. It is a really beautiful life here, and we would like you to be a part of it for a while.

  • What else ...

    What else ...

Around here are beautiful communities with many events, courses, stuff to learn, experience. With the car, you would need 10 minutes to be "in", but you can walk and hitchhike too. This works pretty good. Also, we have groups carpooling WhatsApp groups here, so there are many options to move without a car as well. The connection and networking here is going really well.
We can support you with rides as well.
