    Description

Would you like to stay near the historic and beautiful sites of New Grange and the Hill of Tara, in County Meath, along with its rich and ancient history, there are beautiful gardens, walking trails, traditional music. I am looking for someone for two weeks minimum to a month approximately, thought this is flexible. You are offered your own room, broadband, and the usual household facilities, but no TV. This is a non-smoking household.
The house is 3 miles, 4 kilometres from the nearest bus in a quiet rural area, I pass the bus stop a couple of times a week, and there are bicycles available. I can help with English language if that is required as I have a TFL English teaching qualification. I will collect and deliver to Dublin Airport where necessary.
There is mostly genereal outside and garden maintenance and help needed. In short, the heavier side of gardening and on rainy days there is always housework. The garden is not that big, some of the work needs more strength than I was able for in the past. There are the usual household things that are required when sharing accommodation with others.
There is plenty to do and see in the area, from a nature/historical point of view, as we are in the Boyne Valley and part of Ireland’s Ancient East, quite close to The Hill of Tara and Newgrange World heritage centre among other interesting places. However, it is very quiet and not for someone looking for an exciting or romantic night life, however there are traditional music sessions, for those interested in Irish music. We are a 40 minutes’ drive to Dublin city centre, which can be accessed by bus, the city has something of interest for everyone. Check my calendar for availability.

    Cultural exchange and learning opportunities

Through this culture exchange, workawayers would get the opportunity to refine their English language skills and see some of the Ancient Irish sites and local countryside in the Boyne Valley Area, experience traditional music where possible, as well as visiting Dublin city and possibly further, depending on time spent here and the season.

  • Help

    Help

There is general maintenance around the property which includes, clearing leaves. Apple tree pruning and some strimming. Areas for wet days, cleaning/clearing out clutter inside. As well as the usual cleaning and assisting with some small building or repair jobs from time to time. A willingness to help flexibly is very important, take initiative in suggesting things needing attention and offer help where it is needed.

    Accommodation

There are single bedrooms available in the house. You would share the main bathroom (shower and toilet). There is wireless internet connection. Three meals a day would be provided and actively sharing the household chores, including keeping the fire /stove lit in winter, would be part of living here like everywhere else, people take care of their own and communal living spaces. Washing facilities for clothes are available.
