I am a television director and my husband a doctor who has started and runs various charities. We are both retired but our houses ares regularly visited by our large family and many friends.
In London we live in a particularly beautiful, very large, house featured in several magazines and right on the river Thames with a spectacular view of Wren's Royal Naval College immediately opposite. Our house in France is in the majestic mountains of the Languedoc. The French house is large with a tennis court, pool , a wonderful garden and lots of wooded land; here we need some help with visiting friends especially clearing up after meals. But most of the day you would be free to explore and have a holiday! You could bring a friend. It would he great if you get on well with children as there will be some visiting.
We have four children and 8 grandchildren. Although retired we are still very involved and busy in working on Mike's projects or making films.

We hope they will learn about London, British culture and its history. We reckon we are quite good at helping young visitors with their English! The time in France (July - September) would be interesting for our workaway and they could explore a new beautiful region.
We would like someone to help with gardening, general tidying of kitchen and help in the house (though there is a cleaning lady) , occasional painting and maintenance and help with entertaining.
We'd naturally like them to be reasonably domesticated and capable! Also adaptable and able to turn their hand to anything and to enjoy being the children
French, some Spanish and Italian
A very nice room (with a bathroom mainly for you) that looks at the garden and the river. Also lovely room in France.
We are mainly based in London in a very interesting area, 20 mins east from the centre of London, the house being 3 mins from the Docklands Light Rail;way, in its own quiet and beautiful precinct with a large garden and river on two sides of the house. Lots of balconies over the river.
Through the nearby foot tunnel you can, in 8 minutes, reach Greenwich opposite with all its history - the Maritime Museum, Royal Observatory,Queen's House, antique shops and and the Cutty Sark sailing clipper , with boats going regularly from a nearby jetty into the centre of town past all the major tourist sites.
The view from the balcony where we eat in the summer is like being in Venice. The business district of Canary Wharf and the famous O2 area with all its pop concerts etc are both nearby.
We are informal and very flexible. We would like our workaway person to be independent and have fun in London.
The period in France could be on its own or part of your stay with us. The Languedoc is in the Southwest of France, stunning scenery, village markets, summer concerts, great French food, walks, tennis, a good time!
In France it would be good to have a couple.
