    Description

We live in Sligo on the West coast of Ireland. It is a beautiful part of the world and we are lucky to call it home. We have hill and forest trails in walking distance from the house and it a short 8 minute drive from Sligo town. You will need to have a car for your stay. Many beaches and seaside villages make Sligo a destination spot and are easily accessible by car or bus from Sligo town.
Our dogs, Willow and Sorrel are German Shorthaired Pointers. Willow is 4 years old with a wonderful temperament. She had 5 puppies in September 2024, we have kept Sorrel who is learning fast from her mother and has a similarly gentle and affectionate nature.
GSPs are an active breed and love getting out and about, equally they love flopping in front of the fire in the evenings :)

Work means we both travel quite a bit so we are hoping to find individuals or couples who love dogs and the outdoors and will enjoy taking care of our 2 girls.

    Morning-
Dogs get let out first thing in the morning (about 7am).
Sorrel has first feed at about 8am.
Morning dog walk. We usually we go up the Deerpark, a lovely walk with a megalithic tomb at the top and views over Sligo and Lough Gill.
Both dogs leave (and return to) the house on leads as there is a small section of road, but they can be off lead on the walk, their re-call is very good and they are friendly with the people and dogs they meet (it is not a busy trail).

    Afternoon-
Sorrel has feed at lunch, around 1pm.
An afternoon walk. Deerpark again or any we suggest (we will make a list). Some, beaches for example, will require a car.

    Evening/Night-
Evening feed- Both dogs between 6&7pm.
Both go out last thing at night before bed, for us that tends to be 10.30/11pm but whenever suits you.

    Sweeping and hovering as needed.

    Accommodation

You will have your own bedroom with double bed and desk space. A private bathroom with bath and shower. You will have an independent kitchen which we will only access at the weekends, as the washing machine is set up there. The 3 rooms are all together on one side of the house with good Wifi.
At least 3 nights of the week you will be by yourself at the house, as our work means quite a bit of travelling. We have a small annex by the house that is occupied and Willow and Sorrel are great company.
Homemade meals will be prepped for you and we'd hope to share some too when we are home.

  • What else ...

    What else ...

From the coast to the beautiful mountains of Benbulben and Knocknarea there is plenty to explore on your time off but you will need a car to make the most of your stay. Surfing, hiking, traditional music sessions, great food and cozy pubs are all to be found nearby. Sligo and neighbouring counties Leitrim, Donegal and Mayo are easiest to explore if you have a car and there are bus services from Sligo town that allow you to explore the Wild Atlantic Way as it is known.
Sligo is quite a large town with shopping centers, cinema, great cafes and galleries.
