Escape city life and spend time in nature with us in Brigueuil, France

  Description

  My husband, Andy, and I are English and we live in rural France in an old millhouse with approximately 10 acres of land surrounding it. We have a gite in part of the house where our volunteers would be staying, in their own 2 bed apartment. Also on the site is a 22 acre carp fishing lake that we run as a business but our main requirements are people to come and help us with general gardening around our own private house. Of course they would be able to do some carp fishing in their spare time. We are about 30 minutes from the city of Limoges and 1 1/4hours from the city of Angouleme and Poitiers. So though we are in the countryside with all the things that rural life involves, we are not too far from city life either for cultural activities. During the summer we have guests from many European countries here fishing but our winters are a time for catching up on the garden maintenance on our own private garden that we don't have time for from spring to autumn. Our volunteers will not be required to help with guests or spaces used by our guests.

  We live in a small community near a quiet village but only 15 minutes from a large town that has some nice French restaurants and wider opportunities to sample French life. I speak fluent French too so can exchange language skills in French and English. It's a good opportunity to learn what is involved with managing a lake also.

  So we are looking for help mainly during the winter months during our closed season when we have no guests, with general garden maintenance , Andy and I will be working with you.

  Accommodation

  There is a fully furnished 2 bedroom self contained apartment for our volunteers to stay in. It has Internet connection, and TV in english French and German. Fully fitted kitchen with washing machine, dishwasher, microwave, oven etc. (though meals will be provided with us) and it's own balcony overlooking the back of the house and plenty of parking space at the front.

  There are many areas for cycling or walking locally, and of course carp fishing.
  We have a no smoking policy in the house and our guests should be animal friendly as we have cats and dogs.
