Description
Hello,
Next May we need help to clean the forest; cut brances and carry them and small trunks. On the yard there is raking leaves and reindeer feeding place, some garden works, maybe building too.
If you are interested in northern nature, reindeer and working outdoors this place may be good for you.
We are a couple living in north Finland. Our home is 350 km to the north of Arctic Circle, 18 km from Inari village. There is 20 km long lake Muddus just to the north of our house. It is a peaceful, beautiful lake and also good fishing lake. We have a farm which is mostly forest, swamps and small lakes. There is two hectares field to make hay for our tame reindeer. Our reindeer gives us self-sufficiency in meat and they are also pets for us.
We have also activities for the tourists. Travellers can visit our home if they are interested about authentic, everyday life and sami culture. But we haven't tourists everyday and we don't need help with the tourists.
Mainly we need help in forest works in spring time: we have too many small pines to cut and prune the branches and carry all near the road. . We don't expect you to work alone in the forest, we are working with you. You don't need earlier forest work experience. It is enough if you are used to work physically and you like it.
We have a lot of fences because our reindeer are on the own land. It is big work to keep them in condition and that is done mostly in autumn.
We have also many other tasks; wood chopping painting , building, demolition of old constructions and cleaning, garden works...
There is also some daily work with reindeer if you like working with them.Types of help and learning opportunities

Inari is appr. 700 prs. a famous sami village with remarkable sami museum Siida and sami cultural center. There is 2 shops, couple "pubs", several handicraft shops, library and a church. Around the year lot of tourist visits Inari. There isn't public transport from our farm to Inari village. We use to visit there couple of times a week by a car and you can come with us there. If you want to stay there a longer time then we can borrow you an electric bike! And near our farm many kind nature activities are possible: short hiking trip, fishing and nature photografering (often in night time in summer here is beatiful scenery over the lake).
Help
We also have a number of small projects ongoing: reindeerfence repairing, demolition, house repairing, garden works... and old furnitures need maintenance if someone has carpentry skills.

We had nice time with her and she is allways welcome to our home.
Tuula and Matti were very kind. Tuula was very good at cooking and I ate a lot of Finnish cuisine. I repaired reindeer fences and harvested potatoes. All the twelve reindeers were cute, calm and wise. Sometimes we went to a nearby island with a boat, picked a berry, made a fire and enjoyed a picnic. It was a really nice… read more
