Description
Hi, i am Franck, a positive and enthusiastic french man who lives on a beautiful island of Faial in the Azores archipellago.
In 2022 I bought a property where I started a project to live a sustainable life in harmony with nature and people around me.
For many years I travelled and surfed around the four corners of the world, lived more than 10 years in Costa Rica and it is now time for me to settle in this beautiful environment that Faial has to offer.
My aim is to turn 2500 m2 of pasture land into a place of abundance , resilience and creativity. Lots of work has already been done and there is still lot to do !
In 2024 I started a food forest, a project that i will keep working on for the next few years. I grow an abundance of organic vegetables using the technics of " no till farming " and permaculture principles.
A wooden garden green house is under construction and a yurt platform with all the amenities is on my to do list.
My property is located in Cedros on northern Faial.From there you have access to restaurant,bar,grocery stores,bakery...and a church of course !!
I usually go to the city ( Horta)once a week. There is daily bus twice a day and i have a car available to cruise around.
What i offer :

The Azores is for nature lovers ! Everything here is beautifull even on stormy days.
Faial is part of the triangle islands( Faial-Pico-Sao Jorge)
Atlantico line run several daily ferry in between islands.
Faial's nick name is "ilha azul"( blue island)here it is a combination of green lush vegetation and the intense blue of the Atlantic ocean all around the island.
Lots of hiking,dolphins and whales watching,shark diving,biking trails,horse riding...
Horta, the capital is famous from sailers and it is a lovely town with friendly atmosphere.
Help
I need an energetic and positive soul to help me on the every day tasks that my project require.
Note that my land is partly on a slope with terrasses so you need to be healthy, but this is the best way to keep you on a good shape.
Tasks are varried and depend on the umpredictable weather in the Azores.
I am always open to talk about different ways/options to organize our days.
All ideas and creativity are more than welcome !
Here are different gardening tasks you might be involved to from planting seedlings and weeding to making compost and making garden beds but mainly laughing and having fun !

Accommodation
you will share my house with your own bedroom.It is a nice and cosy stone and wooden house.Share bathroom.
We can share our meals(only vegetarians)or you can cook your own if desired.
I produce and harvest most of my veggies from may to December ( and there is a lot !!)
I will provide the best conditions for you to feel like home.
Very good internet access.
Accomodation and 3 meals a day in exchange for your help ( 5 hrs/day, 5 days/week) free week end.

I am deeply involve to my homestead project and passionate on permaculture and agroforestry. I believe this is one of the key to live in a better world of joy and happiness.
I practice Vipassana meditation on a daily basis and Yoga few times a week.
Yoginis are always welcome.
