    Description

I am an artist and shop owner with a fun roadside attraction called the World Famous Crochet Museum in Joshua Tree, California. I have been making and selling my art made from recycled things for the past 30 years. I enjoy natural health, my 3 tuxedo cats who are almost 2 years old and siblings and have been making my desert yard more comfortable and enjoyable for them since they've come to live with me 1.5 years ago.

I like to laugh and I love where I live. I like to meet new people.

Projects I need help with are clearing a lot of the grass which grew on my fenced in 2 acres during the rainy season months ago but is now dried and needs clearing with hula hoe, weed wacker or by hand. Once the weeds are clear I look forward to building more artful play areas for the cats and continuing to beautify the yard and also incorporate more permaculture with more fruit bearing trees. Maybe we can also build a little pond and artsy fountains.

Travellers will get to experience life in the desert of Califonia, one of my favorite parts of summer are the balmy desert cooling breezes and of course stars at night. I am an artist specializing in recycling and upcycing. I have a store in Joshua Tree selling my art and artifacts and also upcycled clothing screen printed with my designs. Screen printing would be something the travellers could learn from me. I also am the owner of The World Famous Crochet Museum so I could also use help in the upkeep of the museum, repainting it and even helping me build another building or spaces to keep my growing collection so people can enjoy more of my collection.

If interested in art, travelllers may enjoy helping me in either my art studio, which is a homestead cabin my neighbor gave me last year which is now up and running as my art studio. If interested in sewing, I may be able to teach sewing or have them help in my sewing cabin, which is on the lot next door.

    Help

I could use some help clearing the dead grasses and weeds that big rains brought last fall. I've been chipping away at it and have hired some helpers but there's a lot more to go on my 2 fenced in acres.

Once the weeds are cleared I look forward to beautifying the space, considering adding more fruiting trees and building artsy areas with my accumulated materials and in general getting back to my art since much of my free time away from my business in town has been used to deal with all the weeds.

The airstream tralier will be the living space and there is a lovely bathhouse nearby with toilet, sink and clawfoot bathtub. The tub and sink's grey water goes out into a garden. I also have 2 outdoor beds that are wonderful to sleep on under the stars!

I live in the cabin not too far from the Airstream trailer but far enough away for privacy for all parties.

    What else ...

The location is at my cabin on 5 acres near Joshua Tree. It is a beautiful and quiet area with lots of stars at night and views of neighboring mountains. Transportation may be needed, as it's in a rural area and would be a far walk to public transportation. I have an electric bike but it needs work and I think a new battery.

I have my 3 cats so the pet would need to not freak out my cats, they are in the yard a lot so would have access to where the workawayers would stay.
