Description
We are a family of four. Becky and Kilian and our daughters Zoe (15) and Bea (10). We live on a small hill homestead in the beautiful county Wicklow which is known as the garden of Ireland. We are quite remote so it is very serene and peaceful and the view is amazing. We speak English and German as well as a little French. We have a large garden and some meadows and have 5 free range organic pigs. We used to have an Au Pair but the girls have outgrown them and what we are now looking for is someone who would like to come and live with us and in exchange be willing to be an older sister to the girls and collect them from the school bus and do stuff after school with them. As well as that we need a bit of help with cleaning in the house and if you are interested in the pigs or bees to give a hand with that. By arrangement you would have the use of a car in your free time. Becky works from home and Kilian has a job which calls him away on projects from time to time so we would need help 5 days a week for a few hours with weekends free. We also have volunteers helping with renovation projects so there generally will be someone of the same age group to hang out with in the evenings.

Cultural exchange and learning opportunities
Apart from learning what life is like in this part of Ireland, you will get to practice your English skills and hopefully get to meet people from many countries and cultures. We are curious about the world and hope you are too. As we are planting trees and rewilding you can get insight on how to do your bit for the planet in practical ways. If you are interested in bees and beekeeping there is the possibility of assisting with them also. Where we live is also close to all that Wicklow has to offer be it golden beaches, endless nature trails or historical sites. Dublin is accessible by bus in 90 minutes meaning that you can see Dublin without having to find expensive accommodation in the city.

Help
We are looking for you to be a companion for Zoe and Bea and assist with collecting them from the school bus. This will require you to drive as we are in out in the remote countryside (driving on the left is not as scary as it seems at first and Kilian will drive with you until you and he think you have cracked it) Sometimes Bea or Zoe need to be driven to afterschool activities. In your free time you can have the use of the car to drive locally to town or to meet friends. We also need some help keeping the house clean and preparing the evening meal. We would hope a volunteer would help out for 3.5 hours a day 5 days a week with weekends off.

Accommodation
Helpers have their own living pods in our barn which is adjacent to our house. In the 2 pods there is a high bed and a bed at floor level as well as a desk and shelves for clothes. There is also a fully equipped kitchen with large kitchen table. Adjoining is a bathroom with a shower. We have fast internet and digital nomads should have no problem. Each pod can sleep up to 2 but normally 1 person to a pod.
You would make your own breakfast but lunch and dinner we all eat together in the house. We provide all your food and do a weekly shop for provisions.
It should be noted that, while we are very tolerant of peoples preferences, one thing we can not permit is smoking in our shed/pods/kitchen because of the fire risk - if that rule is broken you will be asked to leave.
What else ...
We can normally find a bicycle for you to use during your stay with us.
We can accommodate your campervan and give you power or a place to park your car.
We are 50km from Dublin and it can be reached by regional bus in 90 minutes.

The family welcomed me with open arms and it was always lots of fun spending time with Cloe and Bea.
During my time on the farm we did a lot of hedge cutting and of course we fed the pigs daily.
When the weather was bad (which didn't happen often) we always did some work in the polytunnel.
