    Description

We are a family run horseback riding ranch in southern Chile. We do daily halfday rides and frequently several day rides, most notable our "Crossing the Andes" ride, 5 days in Chile, 3 days riding in Argentina. We need helpers with riding experience to coguide and - after a time of learning- guide 2-4 hour tours. We require a 6 weeks minimum stay. In order to comunicate with the chilean staff you should speak some Spanish.
Aditionaly, for Septemer/October and April/May we are looking for helpers - prefered couples- that could, besides the horse related work- help with our garden-fencing-general work.

    Cultural exchange and learning opportunities

Even if the ranch has many international clients, working with horses in a culture that is heavily influenced by these animals offers an unique chance to experience one crucal part of what Chile is: untouched mountains, rural live and a strong horse culture. Most of our rides lead through Mapuche Indian comunities. The contact with these comunities is an esential part of our rides and our guests´ experience; frequently we stay overnight on ranches run by Mapuche and we buy a good part of our supplies with the local farmers on he way. We expect our helpers to have an open mind towards new expereinces and enjoy meeting different cultures .

Besides our Chilean staff of 3 guides we work with international helpers, one to four at a time. Their task is all the work around the rides, as getting the horses from their paddocks, preparing the horses, as well as all kind of work around our guests, as preparing and serving breakfast, cleaning cabins and so on. As we are a rather small company there is little specialization, everyone, independent his or her position should be able to help out with everything when necessary.

We offer food and accommodation in change of work, besides you get the chance to learn about horses and tours and trail riding and as guide you may take part in some amazing rides.
In exchange we expect a high commitment, the ability to work as a team member but as well be able to work independently.
Because of the time necessary to learn about the job we requier a minimum stay of 6 weeks.
