When Outi arrived we went through the list of tasks to see if she had a preference. She is a keen painter so we ticked that one and we both agreed working on the fire pit area would be a great project. Outi can work very comfortably independently and is an absolute pleasure to have around as she is so easy to get along with and also has great

Her great appreciation of her environment and willingness to explore the area was nicely balanced with her diligence, eagerness to see the job completed and time spent tidying up after the days work. She left her cabin very clean and showed great thoughtfulness in all areas during her stay. Outi has a lot of skills up her sleeve and I have no hesitation in recommending her to other hosts. Grab this wonderful woman! She will make great improvements to your projects. Outi is hoping to return to Tasmania at some time down the track. I hope she does! Outi you are very welcome to spend some time again here in the Far South. Thank you warmly for you help, Suse

Suse is a wonderful person. If you believe in angels on earth, so she might be one of them. Very kind and positive person, who often smiles and hugs people. She just makes people around happy by being herself.
Suse is living in the very remote area, so there is no public transportation near by. She picked me up from one of the small towns and

Her place is beautiful and there is a rocky beach very close. Note that weather in Tasmania is often cold, and same is for the water temperature.
I did some painting and levellig the ground for the barbeque area. I was very lucky to get to know many of her friends. I definetly want to come back one day.

My (extended) stay with Suse ticked all the boxes of what an ideal workaway experience should entail.
I immediately felt comfortable in Suse's company, as she exudes a warm and caring energy, so it's no surprise that she is a popular member of the little community where she lives. I was lucky enough to meet some real friendly characters during my
… read more three-week stay, and it showed me how people look out for each other in such relatively isolated places.
In terms of work, Suse was thankfully neither dictatorial nor a hard taskmaster, trusting me to go through her list of jobs at my own pace, and always showing appreciation after I had completed a task. We both agreed that while the work side is of importance, so too is the exchange part of the deal, and I think that Suse strikes a perfect balance between the two. I felt very satisfied with the jobs that I did, and the new skills that I learned, but we also enjoyed memorable picnics on the beach, barbecue and beers at a friend's house, and a wonderful day trip to the very far south, with a visit to some stunning caves en route.
Accommodation-wise, I had a lovely cabin to myself, with the most comfortable double bed ever, so workawayers who like some time to themselves, as I do, would definitely embrace staying in such tranquil surrounds. I was able to set up Suse's night-vision wildlife camera right outside my window, and I filmed an array of critters each night, from possums, to pademelons, to rabbits, and more. The resident blue-tongued lizard also came to say hello on one occasion, when I was doing my gardening chores!
I'm so thankful that I got to experience this special corner of Tasmania, one that retains the sense of community spirit amongst locals that has been diminishing elsewhere in the world, and therefore not surprisingly, I would urge any potential workawayers reading this to contact Suse, without delay!Left by host for Workawayer (Richard)
A really good gauge as to how an exchange with your Workawayer has turned out is if you would, without question, host them again.
Richard you are forever welcome to this far corner of the world! What a lovely , kind, considerate soul you are making your journey through life. An excellent attitude and outlook and extremely easy to have around.

Richard accepted situations easily and his needs were simple. Dare I mention that as long as he had baked beans he was set hhhh! Oh I have restocked the pantry Richard with baked beans hhhh.
I unexpectedly got called in to work more days and I had no worries as Richard easily and cheerfully worked independently and the jobs were always completed competently and with good cheer.
I believe Richards skill set will expand rapidly as he took on any task put to him with good energy, work ethic and intelligence. He was an absolute pleasure to host. When are you coming back Richard? 😅
All the best with your travels Richard. It is lovely to know you and thanks for all your help. If ever you want to visit the bottom of the world again there is a little cabin in the bush by the sea waiting for you!

The far south of Tasmania lives up to its reputation: from the pristine air to the multitude of stars in the sky to the glittering sea water in the sunlight to the scanty number of vehicles seen on the roads to the idyllic cattle dotting the verdant pastures. Nevertheless, best blessing of all comes through my life encounter with such a lovely

I didn’t use to believe in the saying that a sour company could worsen a bad situation, but after going through challenging situations with the encouragements from Suse, I got a first-hand experience of the opposite. Her beatific smile even melts my troubles away. She sees the goodness in people and has her own way to make things better. Truly a pleasant individual to hang around with. I can’t be more grateful for someone with broken ribs to give her best to such an extent for my sake. I wish I could help her half as much as she has helped me! Thanks a lot, Suse. I am so impressed with Leony’s attitude and outlook in life. I feel I have learnt a lot from this hard and steady working friend. Leony is very easy going and listens and puts in to practice all that goes on. This is rewarding for both of us. I am carrying a ribcage injury atm and Leony was so thoughtful and caring during her stay she got the nickname Dr Leony hhhh. I also liked that she had input in to our projects and she had some very good suggestions or things we could try. Out main task was planting about 70 trees and Leony sure was heaving that mattock and post driving mallet with gusto as we developed a system. I am so thankful to get that task completed so well considering my ribs. Leony to the rescue!!!!
I would love for Leony to stay longer than her 2 weeks and she is very welcome to return anytime. I will miss her enthusiasm, dedication to the task, willingness to learn, care, and her hearty laughs. Oh and she whistles most perfectly when she works! How nice!
Thank you Leony. I have really loved your stay and wish you well in your plans ahead xxx Suse, The Far South, Tasmania

I give my unreserved thanks to Suse for the fantastic two weeks that I spent down on her property in the far south of Tasmania.
