My name is Dani and I'm from England. A couple of years ago I bought a beautiful piece of land a few hundred metres from the coastal road into the jungle of Northern Colombia. The land is 2 hectares and has fruit trees everywhere which makes it a really unique place. There are hundreds of species of birds that live there as well. I am building my hostel myself with two locals, little by little we progress, and soon we will be ready for opening.
My building style is a little different to what you usually find on the coast. I build with steel (frame) and stunning local Colombian hardwood. My whole hostel is environmentally friendly and powered by solar energy only. The goal is to create something truly luxurious but affordable and homely.
There is an enormous amount of fruits and veg growing- oranges, coconuts, mandarins, limes, zapote, cacao, passion fruit, banana, coca trees, beans, squash, corn, chilis, tomatoes, avocados plus herbs so volunteers can help themselves to anything they find on the land.
You'll also meet 2 beautiful dogs and 2 beautiful cats.
I am currently looking for volunteers who have carpentry and furniture building skills. I need some help with creating the furnishings of the hostel including tables, sofa and chairs so this is a real opportunity to have a creative space to do something unusual and beautiful.

There are so many different things to learn and try for the first time here- around building around planting and around basically living a great life in a beautiful place. Volunteers can set their own challenges and see if they can accomplish them. There's plenty of space to show initiative and get stuck in with passion and enthusiasm.
As for the surrounding area, Buritaca and Don Diego towns are just 5min drive. Both have plenty of Colombian culture and the land is in the perfect location to access various points of interest on the coast. Tayrona National Park, Palomino, Cabo de le Vela, Punta Gallinas are just a few places nearby to visit. There is an array of fantastic beach and jungle hostels in the area providing fun activities and great quality food. This is the perfect place to get away from the crowds and explore the Colombian coast and all it has to offer.
I am currently looking for someone with knowledge in the marketing sector. All things website building, social media, poster and flyer design.
Volunteers who have building knowledge and experience are also welcome, as well as those who know about permaculture.
Other volunteers are also welcome. I am looking for people with a good work ethic that have plenty of enthusiasm and love getting stuck in. There's lots of different other jobs to do such as planting, building, landscaping, cooking, harvesting, land maintenance, road maintenance and animal care- you can spend a day working a hard days work with my team or opt for a more DIY/nature feeling days work. Bottom line is we have a lot of fun no matter what needs to be done.

Volunteers can either live with me in one of the cabins I have built for the hostel. If they prefer more privacy they can live in another cabin that has been built on the land. All cabins have beautiful ocean views and the feeling of living in the jungle is strong.
I also provide up to two meals per working day depending on the hours worked.
There is solar power, fresh drinking water (free of charge) and wifi on the land.
