Description
We are any English couple who've been living in the most beautiful part of the Dordogne for the past 20 years and we love meeting new people and sharing ideas. We live in a small chateau and are (very slowly) renovating the outbuildings! We have 3 dogs, 2 horses (that are too old to ride unfortunately), a ginger cat and chickens, so a love of animals is a must! During the summer months the work is more based around animal care, food prep, pool cleaning, garden maintenance and housework.
There are always plenty of jobs in the garden, wood prep for winter fires, some building work that we need help with and just the general maintenance of painting shutters, fixing horse fences etc. No skills necessary for any of this, just keen people, happy to help out.
The property is set in a beautiful quiet location, within a 10 minute (2km) walk along country paths, to our local village. The picturesque village has a fabulous restaurant, a bar, a bakery and a general store. The area is a fwonderful place to explore and welcomes tourists from all over the world. Places of special interest are the medieval town of Sarlat (our nearest shopping centre 30 mins by car), La Roque Gageac, Beynac, the Dordogne river, Domme, many chateaux such as Castelnaud-la-chapelle, Milandes, Beynac and Fenelon plus the stunning gardens of Eyringac, Les Jardins de Cadiot and the box cloud gardens of Marqueyssac.
Longer stays are always welcome, so that we can get to know each other and introduce you to life in the rural French countryside. We're ideally looking for friends that are travelling together or couples and a drivers licence is crucial. Hope to meet you soon!Types of help and learning opportunities

Visit the historically rich medieval villages throughout the Dordogne valley. Places of special interest are the medieval town of Sarlat (our nearest shopping centre 30mins by car), La Roque Gageac, Beynac, the Dordogne river, Domme, the chateaux of Castelnaud-la-chapelle, Milandes, Beynac, Fenelon and the stunning gardens of Eyringac, Les Jardins de Cadiot and the box cloud gardens of Marqueyssac. Maybe learn some gardening / building skills?! Enjoy the company of our 3 dogs, 2 horses, a cat and chickens - not to mention the human companionship. Andy is a talented guitarist and rugby coach....if that's of any interest!
Help
We would love to find someone to help out with plentiful jobs in the garden, wood prep for winter fires, some building work (we are constantly renovating outbuildings, so this work can vary, depending on your skill set). Apart from that it is just general property maintenance, caring for dogs, horses and chickens. No skills necessary for any of this, just keen people, happy to help out.

Accommodation during the summer months is in a large double bedroom in the main chateau with a private bathroom and independent access. A car would massively improve your stay here as there is so much to explore close-by....and no public transport!
What else ...
We live in a rural idyll in a region that is very popular with tourists. Walk out of our front door to fabulous walks through the fields or forest. Sample the beautiful local produce at weekly markets in Domme on Thursdays, St. Pompon on Fridays, Sarlat, Belves & Villefranche on Saturdays and St. Cyprien, Daglan or Cazals on Sundays. If you're here in summer you can't beat a day canoeing down the Dordogne river or hot air ballooning over the Dordogne Valley!
