Description
We are any English couple who've been living in the most beautiful part of the Dordogne for the past 20 years and we love meeting new people and sharing ideas. We have recently bought a small chateau and are (very slowly) renovating the outbuildings! There is a newly refurbished barn that is available for workawayers until the end of March and again from May. We have 4 dogs, 2 horses (that are too old to ride unfortunately) and 2 chickens, so a love of animals is a must! During the summer months the work is more based around animal care, garden maintenance, computer work and housework for the main house and gite. If you are interested their may be the possibility to earn a bit helping us out at our wedding based food truck.
There are always plenty of jobs in the garden, wood prep for winter fires, some building work that we need help with and just the general maintenance of painting shutters, fixing horse fences etc. No skills necessary for any of this, just keen people, happy to help out.
The property is set in a beautiful quiet location, within a 10 minute (2km) walk along country paths, to our local village. The picturesque village has 2 fabulous restaurants, a bar, bakery and a general store. The area is a fabulous place to explore and welcomes tourists from all over the world. Places of special interest are the medieval town of Sarlat (our nearest shopping centre 30 mins by car), La Roque Gageac, Beynac, the Dordogne river, Domme, many chateaux such as Castelnaud-la-chapelle, Milandes, Beynac and Fenelon plus the stunning gardens of Eyringac, Les Jardins de Cadiot and the box cloud gardens of Marqueyssac.
Longer stays are always welcome, so that we can get to know each other and introduce you to life in the rural French countryside.Types of help and learning opportunities

Help
We would love to find someone to help out with plentiful jobs in the garden, wood prep for winter fires, some building work (we are constantly renovating outbuildings, so this work can vary, depending on your skill set). Apart from that it is just the general maintenance of painting shutters, fixing horse fences etc. No skills necessary for any of this, just keen people, happy to help out.

We have a pretty 1 double bedroom stone barn for Workaways that has been renovated to a very high standard. There is an en-suite italian shower room with bath and private use of the living room and kitchen, although we eat our meals together in our house, or on the terrace (weather permitting). A car would massively improve your stay here as there is so much to explore close-by....and no public transport! During the summer months accommodation will be in a separate wing of the main house with private access and bathroom.
What else ...
We live in a rural idyll in a region that is very popular with tourists. Walk out of our front door to fabulous walks through the fields or forest. Sample the beautiful local produce at weekly markets in Domme on Thursdays, St. Pompon on Fridays, Sarlat, Belves & Villefranche on Saturdays and St. Cyprien, Daglan or Cazals on Sundays. If you're here in summer you can't beat a day canoeing down the Dordogne river or hot air ballooning over the Dordogne Valley!
