Just left this great workaway family after almost a month and we already miss it. The accomodation at this place is absolutely amazing, staying in a spacious apartment with everything we needed and amazing views to wake up to. For part of our stay we shared the apartment with two other workawayers (each their own rooms) and had a great time with

Troy and Sherry both made sure we had enough to eat and made delicious family dinners for us to join. We always had a great time chatting around the dinnertable with them and their daughters.
On the weekends Troy took us on different trips around Golden, he really knew a lot about the area which made us able to visit some places that we otherwise would probably have missed.
However in return we of course had to do some work as well and it was definitely hard work, especially lots of heavy lifting which did make the back and muscles ache after a few weeks, but we also learned a lot while doing so and that is also part of a workaway experience of course. Troy was always clear in what was expected and it did really help that there were four of us for half of our stay (and Troy himself helped us as well naturally).
Definitely make sure to be prepared to work hard, but you're going to have a great experience nonetheless.
Thank you for everything Troy, Sherry and your girls, and take care!

We spent almost 3 weeks at Troy and Sherry's place and had a fantastic time. In that time we worked for Troy building a new shed, this involved climbing scaffolding and screwing panels together. We worked in some cold conditions with snowy days but had lots of clothing and gear provided to keep us warm throughout the day. Some other tasks

The food was amazing, with family dinners most nights. The accommodation was also amazing!! Be prepared for hard work, some long days in any weather condition, learning new skills, and the comedian Mike if he's around (legend).
It's very handy to have your own vehicle for exploring town but Troy and Sherry go to town most days so getting around is no issue. We spent our time off going to the Rec centre for sport and hiked Frenchman's trail. Great views from the top! Golden has a lot to offer for a small town.
Thankyou guys for sharing your Canadian ways of mountain living. We are super grateful for our time together. You can only contact Workawayers who have an active membership.
