My name is Mireille, I am French, (53 years old)
- I have been living in the UK for more than 15 years now.
- I am a qualified teacher (for languages – I teach French to learners from primary school to adult) in the UK
- I used to work in Tourism in France (Les Voyages Kuoni for 15 years) to organise trips abroad for groups.
- I am police checked as I work with children in a school
- I spent a year working in a school in Senegal
- I speak English, French and Spanish
- I welcomed children from Chernobyl during a month (we did not speak the same language)
- I worked in different charities (with mental disability people / refugees...)
- I have 3 children (grown up now) and a foster child

What a great experience. I stayed a week at the farm and I loved it. Seng is an amazing host, he knows so many things and he is happy to share. I worked on different things depending on the need and I was very lucky to collect the honey from the beehives.

I volunteered in July/August (nearly 4 weeks) and it was amazing. The children are lovely and they are really keen to learn. It took me some time to understand what would be the best way to teach them. Pouey helped me a lot giving me advice and guidance. The children need a lot of repetition, and they love singing when they learn vocabulary or … read more sentences.
It was my first experience as workaway volunteer and I am so pleased I have chosen this school. Pouey and his family are amazing and inspiring people. They make everything so you feel part of the family. As you might have already seen on the feedbacks, Pouey’s wife is an excellent cook. The food is absolutely delicious (much better than a lot of restaurants).
It is a small school, and you can see the impact the school has in the community. As volunteers, everything is provided so that you don’t lack anything. Pouey likes to make us discover things during the stay. We went together to the floating villages and visited a temple and pagoda at the top of a hill. He gave me a lot of advice on things to visit around the village as I was cycling nearly every morning to discover the beautiful surroundings (amazing market, rice fields, villages, temples, pagodas, lakes). As I say I stayed nearly 4 weeks and I feel I always have something to visit. During the week, I cycled around the village before the lessons (it gives a lot of freedom) and during the week end I went to Siem Reap (a lot of things to visit there and it is only 15 km from the school). I also went the Battambang taking the Angkor Express boat (7 hours) that crosses Tonle Sap Lake to see more floating villages and the life on the lake. The school is perfectly situated if you want to visit as the same time and if you want to stay for a few weeks, you will always have things to visit. It is a great way to be immerse in the real Cambodian life. The work done in the school by Poeuy and his family and Sambath (a regular Cambodian teacher) is so inspiring. They really deserve to be help and supported by the volunteers.
When I was at school, we were a lot of volunteers at the same time for a week. Honestly, it was great as we could divide the class in smaller groups or help some children more individually.
I warmly recommend this school if you want to do volunteering and see the real impact it has on the community.
