Description
We are Emma & Jens, we live in Crato, Portugal at a beautiful lake. Here we are part of a project, a midsummer festival, a landcare project, and a year-round space for creation, experimentation and play. The place is made up of an international community with about 10 people living permanently on site, while others working on the project regularly come and go. Emma works on grant management and the festival's 'creative camps', Jens works on sustainability and communications. We regularly host groups for the production or educative programs around ecology and landcare practices.
The nearest village is Crato, which is about 20 minutes drive from site in bike. The nearest city is Portalegre, 20 minutes from site by car. We're also close to beautiful medieval towns called Castelo de Vide around the Serra de São Mamede natural park.
Regarding the meals, we take turns for cooking at lunch / breakfast and dinner are often self-organised. We provide all the ingredients for 3 meals per day, nice herbal teas from the garden and coffee.
Food is mostly vegetarian, coming from our garden, orchard and local supplier. In special cases we may organise a BBQ. Often time in the year when we have larger groups of people, professional vegetarian chefs are then joining us and bring new flavours on the menu. -

Cultural exchange and learning opportunities
Emma is French, Jens is Belgian, other members of the on site team are Portuguese. We both live in Portugal for 10 years and have been developing programs with the local community such as summer camp for kids, markets, shared meals and open days. Opportunities are wide so it all depends of your interests as you'll be in contact with a lot of different people and skills. On the day to day basis it's mostly about community living, cooking with seasonal produce, organising events together, having a nice time during the weekends, etc. There's a community manager on site that takes care of group dynamics, in short, you'll join the rhythm of the community while helping us take care of baby Elena. Happy to dig in deeper via call!

Help
We mainly need support with our now 8 month old baby at home or on the land, activities can range from going on a walk, having a swim together, sharing a snack, gazing at insects, .... Note, you won't be left alone, we will always be around for anything needed.
We're looking for someone independent, social, eager to live in community, mostly outdoors, joining community meetings, and willing to take turns in cooking and maintaining the communal spaces (join collective cleanings, harvesting food, ...). -
