Description
This personal home will eventually turn into a unique guesthouse/retreat for musicians in nature just outside Lisbon. The concept is based on flow state, relaxation and inspiration...but ultimately it's about having fun :) We have stunning sunset views of a valley. We have ten garden beds growing organic veggies, and the house itself is super cosy, with underfloor heating that's powered by solar energy. For the moment we host occasional non-profit events/jam sessions, but eventually we'll open up to paying guests. For Workaway, we dedicate one or two weeks at a time when we receive musician volunteers who are confident jammers are interested in helping to build the project - and of course to strum or bang on an instrument for evening jam sessions :) There's a piano, guitars, bass, 2 drum kits, and a studio-quality sound system which all instruments plug into.
** The availabilities for receiving Workawayers are for the last week - and the first week - of every month.Types of help and learning opportunities

Help
What's always really appreciated is to have a veggie cook helping to take it in turns to cook meals for everyone. There's always a lot of land maintenance which is usually done with quite havy machinery, as well as a bit of weeding in the garden. As well as this, we also need help with setting up for a few days before the events (these happen on the first Saturday of every month).

What else ...
A beautiful nature walk through the forest following a stream; there is a beautiful waterfall about an hour's walk; Mata Pequenha is perhaps the cutest village in Portugal, which is a 15 minute drive; Ericeira is a world-famous beach town for surfers and is a 20 minutes away by car; Malveira has a huge market every Thursday that attracts lots of tourists from Lisbon and is one train stop away, or 10 minutes by car. The nearest train station from the house is a 5 minute drive down a steep hill, and the trains usually take 40 minutes to get to the heart of Lisbon.
