    Description

You are welcome to come in November and December. We are dedicating these months to tree planting ,creating a syntropic garden, gardening, work on the house and the olive harvest. Please read on!

This is a small farm in the Alpujarras in Southern Spain, next to the Guadalfeo river, about 20 minutes from Orgiva. We have nine hectares of land with olives and walnuts, some citrus, riverside land, chickens, and a syntropic garden. We live here as a very small collective of friends, some in their caravans or in the adjacent small house. The big farmhouse is ocasionally used as a retreat centre or yoga bed and breakfast during the spring and summer. We are aiming to bring the land back to life. To reforest as much as possible. To grow our own food. To create beauty. To share the abundance of this place. To enjoy life and have fun. To respect our environment and honour the land and the seasons and the water.

This is the perfect place to contemplate life, meditate, walk, read and be creative. Its in the countryside, about half an hour's walk from the nearest town. I'll be as helpful as possible with lifts and there will always be someone around to give you a lift or help out if I'm not available. If you are super reliable and a great driver, there will be a car to borrow.

This year we will be designing a part of the land, planting lots of trees and hopefully building another syntropic garden. We will also be beautifying the newly built yoga shala, creating paths, clearing land, painting....all sorts! We are opening the house up in November and December to host quite a few visitors who are up for helping.

Also, if there is anyone looking to come to Southern Spain and sort out my Instagram and Website... Oh that would be Good! And if you are an artist wishing you had your space to make your own art in exchange for creative projects .again, get in touch.

I've not been very good at responding because we haven't really needed anyone. But we do now! If you are an independent spirit with a warm heart and capable hands please get in touch. You will be greeted with open arms and a comfortable, happy environment in which to spend time.

    Cultural exchange and learning opportunities

Hopefully you will learn skills here as you become involved with different projects. The best way to learn is by doing things, by diving in, by making mistakes and by learning from the people around who may know more than you. Amongst us is a nutritionist who loves nothing more than foraging for her food and medicines, a chef, a yoga teacher, a healer and a body worker. We are very flexible and relaxed here and its important to us that we make a fair exchange, and that you enjoy yourself.

  • Help

    Help

We will be working on a number of projects this autumn. We are building a wooden yoga dome. We would love skilled people to help.

We will also be building a geodesic greenhouse, composting toilet, outdoor shower and kitchen, planting up vegetable gardens, maintaining the syntropic garden, extending the chicken run, planting trees, building paths and clearing land.

People who are skilled carpenters, gardeners, builders, botchers, musicians are all welcome. However, you are also welcome if you have no skills but have a good open heart and positive lively energy.

Creatives are also really welcome to come and use their creative skills on the land.

We are new to workaway and as such have no reviews.

You will be in the main farmhouse which is beautiful. The swimming pool will be open until the end of October. You will have your own bedroom, comfy bed and access to a bathroom. You will have use of the living room and kitchen and wifi. You will be able to feel at home. We will ask you to contribute 4-5 hours help per day, 5 days a week, with 2 days off. Food arrangements will be flexible and you will either be making your own food with the food provided, or joining in shared meals. We usually eat a good breakfast and lunch and simple small dinner.

  • What else ...

    What else ...

There may be a car to borrow if you are super reliable and a good driver. Otherwise we are happy to help out with lifts. We are a half an hours walk along the river to the nearest town. There are buses to Orgiva which is 20 minutes away and is surprisingly international with a very lively and friendly alternative culture. The beach is about an hour away.. and we do like to go. There are buses to Granada which is not too far and is definitely worth a visit. There are lovely walks in the area and the whole region is famous for its wine, almonds, olive oil and beauty.

Families are welcome to come in their own campervan. We have a very basic, easily accessible, relatively flat riverside location with a composting loo. We are hoping to increase the facilities for those in campervans this year and would love help doing that.
