    Description

I'm establishing a new home to live closer to nature, in the West of Ireland. On 12 acres of land, there are organic gardens, building projects, alternative energy projects, tree planting and so much more.
It is my personal project, not intended to be a profitable activity.
I live in a house in Mountshannon, 30min drive away from the land, which is the base, with the main amenities, comforts, internet access, right on the shores of Lough Derg.

    Cultural exchange and learning opportunities

In our area there are many opportunities for a cultural exchange. There is music, nature, many ways to learn new skills and meet new people.
I'll be glad to share and exchange gardening experiences and also some of my personal development practices, like qikung, yoga, sound healing, pressure massage and others.

    Help

As part of the developments on the land, there are diverse opportunities to get your hands on. Gardening, looking after the planted trees, renovations, building projects. I'm hoping to experiment with various small hydro-energy systems as water is a great resource in the valley. I'm open to good ideas and initiatives.
In the main house, I have some ongoing small tasks, like painting, wood cutting and other maintenance. A help in the kitchen is also welcome. I have a small dog called Delphi, he's very friendly and loves the company. Some dog walking will also be a good help. Personally I like baking sourdough bread, cooking dahl, fermenting vegetables, making home remedies, like herbal teas and tinctures.

  • Accommodation

    Accommodation

The main house is very close to Lough Derg , a large lake which is great for kayaking and swimming if you like. I have 2 spare bedrooms with their own bathrooms. It's a holiday house, which is not well insulated so in the winter, it is a bit colder sometimes, especially in the morning.
There are also 2 wooden cabins on the land, which is 30 min drive away from the house. Infrastructure is still quite basic, with lots of smaller and bigger diy projects around.
Basically there are options between simple ways of living close to nature and elements, and more comforts in a quiet house by the lake. A new cabin is being worked on at the moment on the land.

I'll provide food for cooking for the day and I'm open to sharing and alternating the dinner duties. I regularly bake a sourdough bread. Personally I'm mostly a vegetarian, but sometimes I eat meat. I try to source more local food and gardens also provide source of quality greens, potatoes, beans, garlic etc.

There is some public transport, but it's not very frequent. You do have an option to get to a town or city if you like. I have bicycles and kayaks available as well.
