Teaching
Loads of opportunity to learn practical skills in Permaculture design and implementation aswell as farm maintenance and sustainable living skills.
I would like to introduce our farm as a new host farm in Tasmania. I am Paul, also known as Ringo, and I am developing this project with a deep passion toward teaching Permaculture and sustainability as well as a keen interest in learning from other cultures. All nationalities are welcome to get involved in this project to share their skills and cultures. I invite anyone interested to contact me to plan a fun and learning experience while in Tasmania. There are very comfortable accommodations available in the converted shearing shed bunkhouse (12 beds), the Cottage as well as in the rustic chalet and camping situation throughout the property. There is opportunity for 10 persons at the farm at any given time.
Our farm is situated near Buckland in the Southern Midlands of Tasmania (cold temperate climate zone) about an hour from Hobart with good road access. The farm is being designed on the principles of Permaculture with a long term plan to create an educational community to demonstrate all things Permaculture and sustainable related. This is a working farm and at present we are planning to start plant 7000 trees as the herd of 12 cattle have been moved off the farm.
The property is 70 acres in size and set amongst 10000 acres of mixed crown and private land. There is an abundance of natural forest, flora and fauna and a concerted effort is underway to return 20 acres back to sustainable forestry. The property exists in an extremely quiet and beautiful part of Tasmania and is close enough to drive to nearby beaches and recreation sites. Transport can be arranged from Hobart airport or Hobart city or directions given for self paced entry to the farm. Public transport is also possible via Tassielink. Check time tables to find suitable schedules.
There are projects being undertaken all year and a lot of opportunity to learn practical skills in all aspects of farm maintenance and sustainable living. 3 very healthy and diverse meals provided for daily and all veg from the garden is grown with organic practices and provides us with 90% of our daily veg needs.
Currently there is a long term opportunity for a committed person or couple to farm sit the project during periods where I work offsite. Ideally someone with a sound knowledge of Permaculture and gardening as well as a broad range of practical skills that will manage basic maintenance situations on the farm. When making contact with interest to this opportunity, provide as much detail about your skills and interest toward Permaculture and sustainable living.
