Description
We are a couple living in a peaceful village in Ayvacık with our 3 cats and 2 dogs. We run a ceramics workshop at home and a small specialty coffee shop in the next village. We’re looking for someone to join us in the studio for clay work, glazing and creative projects.

Cultural exchange and learning opportunities
You’ll experience quiet village life, meet our friendly neighbors, visit our coffee shop, and enjoy local food culture. You’ll also learn pottery techniques, glazing, and the full process of creating handmade ceramics.
We often take short trips to Assos and nearby villages, and you’re welcome to join when possible.
Projects involving children
This project could involve children. For more information see our guidelines and tips here.

Help
Our main need is help in our ceramics workshop, located in our garden. Tasks include preparing clay, assisting with simple production steps, helping with glazing days, organizing the studio, and supporting ongoing creative projects.
We also run a cozy coffee shop in the nearby village of Söğütlü, open every day except Wednesday–Thursday. Durul works there while I’m in the studio, so you’ll mainly be helping me with ceramics.
We love creating a warm working atmosphere. We will work side by side on ceramic tasks, share techniques, and enjoy a creative flow together. Whether you’re experienced or completely new to ceramics, we enjoy teaching and learning from each other. We value a relaxed, kind, and collaborative environment.

Accommodation
You’ll stay in our spare bedroom in the house. The room is simple but cozy, with a heated blanket for colder nights. We heat the house and the workshop with a wood stove.
We share our meals together, but you’re also free to cook in our kitchen if you prefer.
Our home is very animal-friendly — we live with 3 cats and 2 dogs — so you should feel comfortable around animals.
What else ...
We have a car and can comfortably transport you to various places. Ayvacık is just 3 km away, where you can find all kinds of minibuses and buses, but we can always assist with transportation by car. Each village nearby has different places to discover, and you can explore the ancient city of Assos. Further away, we can also take you to the ancient city of Pergamon. We frequently go to the sea, and you are welcome to join us. Additionally, if you are interested, you can enjoy some time working with the pottery wheel.
