Description
We are a family of three: Geert, Barbara, and our son Roemer (12). We live in a beautiful little village right next to the river Waal in the Netherlands.
Our home is set on a spacious property with a large garden (about 6,000 m²) and several accommodations. We run a small retreat centre here, a peaceful place where people come to reconnect with nature, themselves, and each other.
Because of the size of the property, there is always plenty to do. We welcome Workawayers who enjoy practical outdoor help and would like to support us with things such as gardening, painting, and light renovation or maintenance projects around the place.
Solo and Duo travelers are very welcome.

Cultural exchange and learning opportunities
We are a warm and welcoming family, and our work is mainly focused on personal development, nature, and leadership.
At our retreat centre, we organise experiences such as nature trails, vision quests, and sweat lodges. If you are interested in personal growth, nature-based living, and meaningful conversations, this place may be a very special fit for you.
Barbara also loves healthy cooking, so if that interests you, you may pick up inspiration there as well.
We are native Dutch speakers, so this is also a nice place if you would like to hear and learn some Dutch. We also speak English, German, and Barbara speaks some Spanish.
Help
There is always plenty of practical tasks to do on our property. Most of the help is outdoors and hands-on, and often quite physical, but it is also very rewarding because you can clearly see the results of what you have done.
Examples of the kind of help we may ask for:
- Gardening, such as pruning, weeding, tidying, and general garden care
- Painting window frames or other outdoor elements
- Helping with maintenance around our private home and property
- Small renovation or construction projects, for example building or improving things on the land (like our chicken “wellness centre”)
We are looking for people who enjoy practical tasks, like being outdoors, and don’t mind getting their hands dirty.
In return, we offer accommodation, healthy and tasty shared meals from Monday to Friday, plus a weekly financial contribution to help cover your weekend food and give you a little pocket money.

Accommodation
You will stay in one of our lovely vintage caravans, which has heating and its own small kitchen. A shared toilet and shower are available nearby.
The caravans are simple, cosy, and full of character. A great fit if you enjoy a more natural and peaceful outdoor lifestyle.
During the winter months, we can often offer a more comfortable studio as well.
What else ...
This is a wonderful place for people who love peace, nature, and outdoor life.
In your free time, you can enjoy beautiful walks and bike rides in the area. We are surrounded by nature and live right next to the river Waal. You can borrow a bike from us to explore the surroundings.
There is public transport available by bus, and from here you can reach cities such as Den Bosch, Nijmegen, and Tiel.
So if you enjoy nature, meaningful work, and staying in a peaceful place with a warm family, you will likely feel very much at home here.
