  • Description

    Description

We are a Portuguese couple living on a small farm in Pinheiro, Albergaria, Aveiro district, surrounded by beautiful forest and nature. We share our home with many animals, and caring for them is a big part of our life.

Our farm is not a business, we only have 6 chickens so we can have our own eggs, and 2 dwarf goats, 2 dogs, an indoor rabbit, and a gecko and some regular visits from our neighbour’s cats. Nature is everywhere around us, you’ll often see birds, like magpies, robins, kites, eagles, storks, owls, and other animals like frogs, salamanders or bats

We lived abroad during 5 years before we moved here in order to have a calmer lifestyle where we could be closer to nature and provide the best possible life for our animals.

We both work remotely from home and, over the past four years, we are developing our space. So far, we’ve worked on landscaping, built an outdoor kitchen, created a no-dig vegetable garden, a greenhouse, fencing, and shelters for our chickens and goats.

As we work regular hours during the week, most tasks will be done on your own, but we are always available for guidance and share ideas and working on projects together, especially on weekends.

We are looking for motivated and easygoing people who enjoy nature, animals, and hands-on work.

Experience with permaculture or farm work is required, including soil work, mowing grass, planting fruits and vegetables, building and repairing fences, and caring for animals.

    Cultural exchange and learning opportunities

We are a couple who have traveled a lot and lived abroad in two continents, so we enjoy sharing our experiences and learning from others cultures and perspectives.

While we both work from home and can be quite busy during the day, we are always happy to connect when possible. We may not be able to spend a lot of time together during the day, but we arefriendly, open, and available to help, share knowledge, and exchange experiences whenever it makes sense.

Our farm is located in peaceful little vilalge. Right outside the property, you can have long walks through the forest or swim in the Vouga river in a just a 10-minute walk.

    We are also well connected:

10 km from Aveiro city centre
    10 km from Águeda
    10 km from Albergaria-a-Velha
Less than 1 hour from Porto

  • Help

    Help

Gardening and growing food (vegetables, herbs, fruits, flowers)
    Taking care of the landscape
    DIY small projects
We don't need any major constructions or dangerous tasks, we just want some help in some small tasks like fixing a hole in a fence, because our goats like to leave their fences sometimes, or fix some raised beds in out fruit garden, remove weeds from he raised beds, feed the chickens in the morning...small tasks just to keep our small farm in the best possible way. We will help as much as possible, but tasks are easy, thats why a couple like us, that never lived in the country before, manage to do those for the last 5 years with no experience
Animal care (feeding the chickens and goats and helping with general upkeep, such as cleaning the coop and goat shelter)
