Description
Hello, we (Lucy + James) are an Australian couple moving to Europe in May 2026.
We are quitting our jobs in Australia, packing our bags, and moving to the other side of the world for a new adventure, and opportunity to meet new people, and experience new cultures.
I (Lucy) am a 26-year-old from Hobart, Tasmania who has been living in Queensland for the past five years working as a journalist for the Australian Broadcasting Corporation (ABC News). I started out as a rural reporter having studied agriculture and business at university and currently report on Pacific Island countries - their politics, sport, and culture.
James is a 28-year-old from Theodore, Queensland and currently works as a mechanical engineer at a mine in Queensland. A lover of rugby, he travelled to the world cup in France with some mates, and studied engineering and business at the University of Queensland.
We have been together for three years and enjoy adventures outdoors, playing sport (James - touch footy and tennis) (Lucy - running, crossfit, hockey), travel, and agriculture (James is from a cattle farm). -

More details about your skills
I (Lucy) have a degree with first-class honours in Agriculture and Business. My honours thesis was focused on irrigation development and its social impact and changes on land-use. During university, I worked on farms, in a cafe, at a bar, and at a school-book shop to pay the bills. I love having a chat and have used this passion to develop a career as a journalist with ABC News. I have worked in Tasmania and Queensland, as a radio producer, rural reporter, and Pacific reporter. In this role I have presented a radio program, recorded and edited radio stories, written digital articles, filmed tv stories, and filmed tv live-crosses. Aside from all of this, I am an active 26-year-old who enjoys the outdoors, working hard, and not afraid to get my hands dirty. I love kids and am a confident and fluent English speaker.
James is a senior mechanical engineer who completed a double degree in Mechanical Engineering and Business Management. James has been working as a mechanical engineer for 5 years for Glencore in the mining industry across Queensland. He also grew up on a cattle property in Queensland, so has a range of practical skills including machinery operation and maintenance, welding & fabrication, basic mechanical skills and general handyman knowledge.
James is reliable, organised, happy doing physical jobs, and enjoy being outdoors. He's tidy, respectful in shared spaces, and a fluent English speaker who enjoys good conversation and working as part of a team. -
