Find your perfect host
Details
 - Description- Hello! We are Bruno and Sylwia a couple living on a farm in a beautiful rural setting in Gaia, just 20 minutes south of Porto city and 8 km from the ocean coast. A few years ago, we followed our dream of embracing a lifestyle more connected to nature, purchased a small piece of land, build a wooden house and started to cultivate our own food.
Sylwia is an IT professional who works remotely from home. Bruno is versatile in his professional life, ranging from musician to business ceo. We both love our eco-living lifestyle alongside our professional activities. We have numerous DIY projects underway and greatly appreciate a helping hand here and there.
Our property features a garden with a duck pond, vegetable plots, a swimming pool, forest area, garage, plenty of poultry, and four friendly dogs.

 - Cultural exchange and learning opportunities- Our location serves as an excellent base for exploring the beautiful Silver Coast and the vibrant city of Porto. Public transportation is available within a 5-10 minute walk from our home, as are a supermarket, restaurants, and various local businesses. We also have a bicycle available for your use.
Every day offers learning opportunities—whether you're learning from us, we're learning from you, or we're discovering together. We enjoy sharing our knowledge and interests, which include healthy lifestyle practices, growing and preserving vegetables, caring for our animal companions, and sustainable construction techniques. We both have a passion for music, playing instruments, singing, and dancing, and occasionally organize jam sessions with friends. Social gatherings are an important part of our lives; we enjoy hosting dinner events where we exchange ideas about sustainable living, engage in deep philosophical discussions and laugh.
By joining us, you'll experience eco-living practices in a natural setting while having the opportunity to practice your Portuguese and/or English skills. We strive to live with open hearts and warmly welcome travelers from all cultural backgrounds.
 - Help- We maintain a small quinta with numerous daily tasks and DIY projects that we struggle to complete on our own. We ask for a contribution of ⏰ 4 hours daily, 5 days a week, for a minimum stay of 2 weeks.
 Your help may include:
🌱 Gardening: tending to the vegetable garden, weeding, composting, mowing, watering, harvesting, and experimenting with organic techniques 🐞
🪓 Wood management: pruning, chipping, and stacking 🪵
🏡 General maintenance: keeping outdoor spaces clean and organized 🍃
 🔩 Basic construction/carpentry 🪚 and repair assistance 🔨
🪴 Occasional house-sitting, including animal care 🐓 (we have 4 dogs, peacocks, ducks, and chickens)
🍳 Helping with meal preparation, especially lunches (if you enjoy cooking) or assisting with dinner
We'll match tasks to your abilities and help you develop new skills. What matters most to us is your reliability, commitment, and enthusiasm in helping with our projects.
 In exchange, we offer:
 - Comfortable accommodation and meals
 - A tranquil natural setting with animals
 - Knowledge about healthy living, organic gardening, and building techniques
 - Proximity to explore Porto, the Silver Coast, and other Portuguese regions
 - Opportunities to practice Portuguese and/or English
 - Languages spoken- English: Fluent
 Polish: Fluent
 Portuguese: Fluent
 - Accommodation- We offer a comfortable double bedroom in our home, with shared access to the bathroom, kitchen, and living room.
Regarding meals, Workawayers have full access to our kitchen to prepare breakfast and lunch. We typically have lunch around noon, and those who enjoy cooking would be a great help. In the evenings, we usually share a light meal together, and assistance with preparation is much appreciated.
We primarily follow a vegetarian diet with minimal meat consumption. While we're quite flexible, we do find it challenging to accommodate strictly vegan diets—with our flock of chickens providing fresh eggs daily, these have become a staple in our meals.
