Description
We are a family-run farm dedicated to preserving the surrounding cultural landscape, and home to a house concert series! Our goal is to be as self-sustained as possible. Everything harvested at the farm is organically grown (soon to be certified!) or wild-harvested.
We are a couple, Anton (from the Netherlands) and Ellen (from USA). Our son Noah was born in 2011 (speaks English, Dutch, and Norwegian). He likes to interact with people and we are very glad for him to meet people from all over the world.

Cultural exchange and learning opportunities
Anton is a teacher in organic small scale farming, and Ellen is a composer. The combination of these two careers/interests brought us here to this spot in 2020—and here we want to build a place where everybody is welcome. We are happy to share our knowledge with you, and look forward to learning from you as well! Ellen loves to do yoga and bake bread, and I love to cook and be out and about.

Projects involving children
This project could involve children. For more information see our guidelines and tips here.

Help
We need help with maintaining our garden and the surrounding cultural landscape, and some simple building projects. The help we request from Workawayers is only in our private home, shared spaces and garden. We love to cook, and are also interested in new foods!

Accommodation
We have a separate bedroom available for you (see photo), which has a toilet and sink on the same floor (shared). (Occasionally this room can be shared with another workawayer, after discussion.) The shower is downstairs and is also shared. This bedroom is in another building, and is separate from our house (which is just 25 meters away). Dinner is usually eaten together, and cooking/washing up responsibilities are shared. Breakfast and lunch can be eaten together or separate. We are mostly vegetarian, although occasionally a fish from the fjord finds its way to the table. We use organic produce from the gardens, and wildharvested food from the landscape; all other ingredients bought in for the kitchen are organic.

What else ...
•There are lots of hiking/skiing opportunities, fishing, and the fjord is a few km away.
•Museum Kystens arv is in Stadsbygd; is has exhibits about the history of coastal life in this area, and an active boat buildery for traditional wooden boats.
•The Coastal Pilgrim path goes close by our farm.
•Stadsbygd (closest village for groceries) is about 3 km away, while Rissa (a few more stores) is about 10 km away.
•Fosen Folkehøgskole is in Rissa.
•The closest bus stop, for the bus to Trondheim (or Rissa), is 2 km away.
•And much more! : )

It was my first Workaway and I can definetly recommend it to others.
The work varied a lot from painting to hatvesting and some carpentry tasks.
I could ask everything I wanted to and they taught me a lot. They were also very flexible about the working time and the tasks I made. So there wasn‘t a hierarchy at all.
