  • Description

We are a family owned homestead farm community on 53 acres comprised of pristine forest and fertile arable lands, several ravines with a year round stream running through. We've been building our community for over 10 years, from scratch. Our community consistent of some people in residents and some folks who are travelling and exploring life. Come work with us to develop an alternative, farm-life experience on our organic (non-certified) farm and get to enjoy the beauty of the surrounding Nature and the Island life of Salt Spring.

    Cultural exchange and learning opportunities

During your stay you will have the opportunity to learn a diverse set of skills, from market garden farming to wood-frame construction methods, land and many other communal infrastructure projects. You will learn about community living, human behaviour, how to share the space with others and how to be compassionate, empathetic towards each other. You will also learn how to be good to our Earth. We live very simply out of intention to minimize our impact on Mother Earth.

There are weekly yoga classes held here on the farm for those willing to join. We do many recreational things together to share in the fun and joy or our lifestyle.

We look forward to meeting you and sharing experiences.

You will experience a full immersion into community and homesteading farm-life alongside our long-term residents. You will participate in the daily farm or construction tasks. You can chose between two schedules:
    - 5 hours a day for 5 days a week
    - 25 hours spread over the week in a way that is beneficial to the farm rhythm and that works for your needs..

Please note that the work hours do not include breaks, breakfast, lunch.

Experience in farming, carpentry and mechanics will be assets! We welcome people who want to learn how to farm and experience community living. Typical daily tasks could involve prepping vegetable beds, planting, harvesting, cleaning, weeding, tending to farm animals, building farm infrastructure or helping with the many tasks centred around farming and keeping organized systems.

Be also aware that a farming life can sometimes be physically demanding so, please make sure you are fit and ready for work!

COVID: We follow the current COVID protocols as of April 8, 2022 for travel inside of Canada. If you are travelling from outside of Canada, please follow the guidelines and regulations required.

We are located on beautiful Salt Spring Island, across the road from the ocean and walking distance from the quaint Village of Fulford where you will find the ferry, a convenience store, restaurants, a liquor store, a post office, high speed wireless internet, etc. The bus line connecting to Ganges is easily accessible down the road.

We have trails on the property (ideal for mushroom picking and bird watching and quiet forest time) and there are many options nearby to go swimming (Spirit Lake, Burgoyne Bay, Fulford Harbour, Ruckle Park) or hiking trails (Mt. Maxwell, Reginald Hill, Mt. Erskine).

Please, no cigarette smokers and no pets. At this time our kitchens are not yet suited to accommodate those individuals with severely restrictive diets i.e. Celiac . Most of our meals are vegetarian and fresh farm produce.

If this excites you or you have any questions, please get in touch with us!
