    Description

HI, My husband and I live on an Island in Southern Moreton bay we are only 60klms from Brisbane, but a world away from city life. We came here only 12months ago and absolutley love it!.
We have a 1600sqm block with a 3 bed home on the water. We enjoy kayaking, fishing and nature based activities. our land is a gentle slope to the water and we have started a indigenous planting project to regenerate the nature bush. It is in stage 2 and we would love some help with weeds and planting out our next sections.
About us, we are retired but still very active in the community. We are both involved in projects on the islands. I also do Improvisations classes weekly, which you can join! and my Husband runs a repair cafe and a recycling program. So much happens on the islands! We have a newly built art gallery precinct with a pottery space and cafe space. We have our own doctors , primary school, supermarkets, halls, library, restaurants pubs, clubs and skatepark, beaches, boat ramps and jetties. even an ambulance station!
We have great transport to and from islands, via ferries every 15 to 20 mins most times. from 5 am through to midnight.
You will stay either in the house with an ensuite double room or in our motor home coaster bus ( on the property) which we travel in when we go camping and road trips.
We are both very interested in overseas travel, although we don't speak any languages other than English, we would love to learn.
I am a great cook and we often entertain with family and friends.
Come for a few days or a week. We would love to have you join us and experience a beautiful part of the world.

  • Help

    Help

Some of things you may be doing.
Helping us with planting, mulching and weeding a couple of hours a day, help with building a small green house perhaps.
We also have commitments with community events, so if you are around when they are on, we would ask for your help for a few hours, collecting recycling plastics and cans from the islands.
You will be a good fit if you are energetic, enjoy outdoors, nature and birdlife, water activities and meeting everyday Australians, and can speak some English of course.

    Space for parking camper vans

Our island means you need to bring the van over on a barge at cost approx $300 return. We have a large block and can accomodate a van max one week. Prefer not to have a large van on site, only small under 5 metres for camping. We are happy to have campers put up a tent . We have water and power and set up portable toilet and shower if needed.

Three kookaburras perch on a wooden railing outside. Below, a table and chairs sit on a deck. Trees and water create a serene, natural backdrop.
Two metal dolphin sculptures on a sandy beach at sunset, with a colorful sky, distant trees, a docked blue boat, and calm water in the background.
A young girl in pink shorts looks up and smiles at a large metal bird sculpture holding an ice cream cone, perched atop a tree stump outdoors.
A tranquil coastal view showing calm blue ocean, distant hills, a tree and palm in the foreground, with clear skies and greenery, framed by wooden fencing.
A vibrant sunset glows behind dark clouds, its golden rays illuminating the sky. Rippling water in the foreground, silhouetted hills, and a peaceful horizon complete the scene.
A young tree with broad green leaves is staked for support on a grassy slope. Steps made of rocks lead up to a house in the background.
A smiling older couple wearing glasses sits together, holding coffee cups and spoons, enjoying a relaxed moment at a table in a bright, cheerful setting.
