    Description

We are looking for a firendly and adaptable helper, who speaks good english to stay for at least 3 month and help skipping out stables and exercising horse 5 days a week for a total of 15 hours per week. This job is paid for at Irish minimum salary.
Please don't apply if you have no experience with horses or stable management. You need to be experienced in handling young horses and we also have stallions, so it is important that you understand horses and can also speak English well.
You will have plenty of free time to go walking or riding on our beautiful farm. We have internet and you have your own room to work in, if you are working online during the hours you are not working with the the horses.

We are a family of 3 and live on a farm with ponies, dogs, ducks, cattle, chicken and goats.
I am a socially engaged artist and also teach environmental and socially engaged art and landscape architecture at different universities in Dublin. Kieran farms full time and our daughter is 13 . We both speak German and would love to find a German workaway who will speak German with us.
Your work would be 5 days a week, 4 hours a day, but you would need to be flexible about when you are working on those days.

If you want to ride in your free time, you can ride my daughters and my ponies with us but you need to be a good rider and at intermediate level as our horses are all competition horses and are not all safe for beginners and it is important that their level of ride- ability stays at the standard it is at. For that reason, you can only ride together with me and I can teach you while we ride together.

You need to be mature, someone who can work independently, understands that I also need time for my own work and need some private time with my daughter and that I cannot mind you as if you were a child. I need a grown up who enjoys helping and is not personally hurt when I ask them to do things in a certain way.

You can eat with us on 3 evenings a week. And you can cook for yourself in your own kitchen, where you can make your own breakfast and lunch there as well.

You have your own spacious double bedroom, bathroom and living room with a kitchen area as well. The whole house is heated with wood-burning stoves, so you will have to keep the stove in your living room going by refilling logs twice a day.

    Minimum stay is 3 month.

    a typical day:
8.00-9.00: Muck out, Get horses in & feed
12.00-13.30: feed hay, tidy the yard, lunge and groom horses
16.30- 17.00: evening feed and turn the horses out
    This schedule may alter

    We offer:
    - minimum pay
    - your own apartment with your own double bedroom, kitchen and bathroom and a living room with a wood burning stove
    - bring you food shopping
    - lifts to Mullingar, from where you can take the bus to anywhere in Ireland on your days off
Minimum stay 3 month, longer possible- shorter sadly not
Looking forward to hearing from you, Sophie

Irish Countryside, Irish horse skills and speaking English
We offer plenty opportunity to ride: Dressage, jumping and cross country jumping.
And you can improve your English while you are here.

It is a fantastic chance to live on an Irish organic horse stud. You can learn a lot about how horses behave as the animal they truly should be. They are brought up in herds on large fields. In the spring we ride out to see if a new foal has been born every day. Later on in the year, the stallions get turned out with the mares: A unique chance to understand how horses can live a horse life, as opposed to being brought up in a confined area.
