    Description

We are looking for a German speaking female ( my daughter is half German and loves practicing the language) who wants to spend time on a stud farm, helping us tame the young horses and cook 2 days a week for our family of 4 and yourself. You will have your own spacious bedroom and a bathroom and livingroom to share with our rider. We are very family orientated and whileas we love eating with you in th e evenings 4 days a week, we also need our own time. You can ride 5 days a week in your free time and we will give you lessons on our old well behaved Connemara pony. We have youngstock and stallions and can only have people who have horse handling experience and respect how we treat them. They can be dangerous if you treat them the wrong way. We don't need anyone who has a problem with authority or knows everything better. But someone who feels they will benefit from learning from us how to tame a horse that has been brought up naturally in a herd and is being tamed in order to be a riding horse. You only are helping us with the groundwork. We have a professional rider to back them. Every second weekend you have to help mucking out stables and you will be paid for that.
PLEASE DO NOT APPLY IF YOU DO NOT MEET THE CRITERIAS:
    You need to be:
    - female
    - German speaking
    - have a lot of horse handling experience
    - friendly and sociable
    - independent worker
    - responsible and understand that orders must be followed around the horses
    - aged 28 plus, in order to be put onto our driving licence
    - Minimum stay is 3 month.
    - Maximum weight 70kg because of the pony you will be riding
    - We are not vegetarians, so if you are, you would have to cook for yourself most evenings.

To be paid for helping in the stables for a total of 15 hours per week over 5 days.

Please don't apply if you have no experience with horses or stable management. You need to be experienced in handling young horses and we also have stallions, so it is important that you understand horses as well as ride well.
You will have plenty of free time to go walking or riding on our beautiful farm. We have internet and you have your own room to work in, if you are working online during the hours you are not working with the the horses.

We are a family of 4 ( Parents and a 14 year old daughter plus our rider) and live on a farm with ponies, dogs, ducks, cattle, chicken goats and a donkey.
I am a socially engaged artist and also teach environmental and socially engaged art and landscape architecture at different universities in Dublin.

If you want to ride, there is an old Connemara Pony that is very safe , if you are a very good rider ( send a video), you can ride my daughters and my ponies with us but you need to be at intermediate level as our other horses are all competition horses and are not all safe for beginners or people who have only ridden in riding schools. And it is important to us that the horses level of ride- ability stays at the standard it is at

You can eat with us on 4 evenings a week. And you can cook for yourself in your own kitchen, where you can make your own breakfast and lunch there as well.

We explicitly looking for someone who is happy to spend peaceful time in the countryside and can do without going Clubbing and meeting lots of other people for a few month. Our place is about enjoying our animals and being with the people who live and work here. The whole house is heated with wood-burning stoves, so you will have to keep the stove in your living room going by refilling logs twice a day.

    5 days a week :
    09.00- 12.00: tame horses
13.30-15.00: ride in your free time
    15.00- 16.00: tame horses
17.30- 18.30: evening feed and turn the horses out

    Every second weekend:
8-10.00: skip out, get horses in, feed
17.30- 18.30: feed, turn horses out
    This schedule may alter

    We offer:
    - your own apartment with your own double bedroom, kitchen and bathroom and a living room with a wood burning stove
    - bring you food shopping with us
    - use of our car when we do not need it
Minimum stay 3 month, longer possible- shorter sadly not
Looking forward to hearing from you, Sophie

Irish Countryside, Irish horse skills and speaking English
We offer plenty opportunity to ride: Dressage, jumping and cross country jumping.
And you can improve your English while you are here.

It is a fantastic chance to live on an Irish organic horse stud. You can learn a lot about how horses behave as the animal they truly should be. They are brought up in herds on large fields. In the spring we ride out to see if a new foal has been born every day. Later on in the year, the stallions get turned out with the mares: A unique chance to understand how horses can live a horse life, as opposed to being brought up in a confined area.
