    Description

    =============
    We have short-term spots for certain building/renovating/gardening projects now, and the stay would be in our guest room.

    There are different indoor/outdoor projects to chose from.

    The workawayer should have experience living with cats and understand safety issues around pet care or be willing to adjust to the requirements quickly.

    At the moment we would prefer a workawayer to stay for 1-3 weeks with specific skills to work on a certain project.

    Project choices are (depending on time of year/weather/skills):
    - build terrace roof
    - lay cork click-flooring
    - help renovate/build kitchen
    - plaster walls
    - paint walls
    - tile bathroom wall
    - set up chicken coup
    - repair fence
    - cut trees
    - dig out bamboo
    - make/maintain vegetable patches
    - repair bikes

    Longer term stays / stays for more than 1 person on request.

    =============

    We are a small shared-house-community with a vegetable garden and 2 cats. At the moment we live here with 3 housemates. So the workawayer would be the 4th person. 😊

    We also welcome help with housework and preparing meals or the transport of furniture, as one of us is temporarily handicapped.

    We're into crochet and crafts and I was quite excited to see that many of you travelers enjoy this, too.
    We enjoy yoga in the garden and paddle boarding on the nearby canal and swimming in local lakes - in the winter we're more indoors or go to the local pool or Saunas.

    Our house (built in 1933) is in a suburb of Hannover about 15 mins from the main train station. We share bathrooms, common rooms and kitchen.
    You can borrow a bike. We speak German and English.

    Cultural exchange and learning opportunities

    We've had flatmates and workawayers from Australia, Turkey, China, Germany, Iran, Nepal, Greece and France before but we're still quite new to workaway. I've had some experience meeting people through the organisation "Servas". I've lived in England, Australia and Thailand. We're open to share our culture with others and learn from yours.

    You can learn a bit about growing your own food, in "Mischkultur", or, if you are an expert yourself - educate us further. 😊
    We are planning to start raising chickens this year, so we would be happy to share this experience.

    Our little road is quite friendly so you will likely get to know the neighbours. Our place is near the "Mittellandkanal" and as soon as the waether gets warmer again there's the opportunity to go stand up paddle boarding.

    We care for elderly people and there are some community events in the calendar volunteers would be welcome to attend, if interested - like for instance the European Neighbourhood Day in May.
