Description
============
update:
I am still waiting for a clinic visit due to orthopedic procedures, that's why most of the dates in the calendar are "maybes", because I can't plan long-term right now.
Short-term requests are often possible, the red times we're either full or on holiday.
In spring and summer there's always lots to do in the garden - cutting trees, seeding, planting, watering, fertilizing, harvesting...
During the winter months there won't be much gardening, so the tasks will be more in the house - tidying, organising, cooking, renovating..
There are also many different longer projects to chose from, if you plan to stay more than 2 weeks. Depending on the time of year, the weather and your skills, experience and preferences - there are for example upcycling furniture, painting, woodwork or repairs.
=============
We have short-term spots for certain building/renovating/gardening projects where the stay would be in our guest room.
And we have a small room for 1 workawayer who would like a longer term stay.
There are different indoor/outdoor projects to chose from.
The workawayer should have experience living with cats and understand safety issues around pet care or be willing to adjust to the requirements quickly.
=============
We are a small shared-house-community with a vegetable garden, fruit trees, berry bushes and 2 cats.
We also welcome help with housework and preparing meals or the transport of furniture, as one of us is temporarily handicapped, meaning that every day tasks or bigger projects can sometimes not be accomplished by us.
We're into crochet and crafts and I was quite excited to see that many of you travelers enjoy this, too.
We enjoy yoga in the garden and paddle boarding on the nearby canal and swimming in local lakes - in the winter we're more indoors or go to the local pools or Saunas.
One of us is part of the international basic income movement and we always welcome activists for social equality and similar issues.
Our house (built in 1933) is in a suburb of Hannover about 15 mins from the main train station. We share bathrooms, common rooms and kitchen.
You can borrow a bike and the paddle board. We speak German and English.Types of help and learning opportunities

Cultural exchange and learning opportunities
We've had flatmates and workawayers from Australia, Turkey, China, Germany, Iran, Nepal, Greece and France before but we're still quite new to workaway. I've had some experience meeting people through the organisation "Servas". I've lived in England, Australia and Thailand. We're open to share our culture with others and learn from yours.
You can learn a bit about growing your own food, in "Mischkultur", or, if you are an expert yourself - educate us further. 😊
We are planning to start raising chickens this year, so we would be happy to share this experience.
Our little road is quite friendly so you will likely get to know the neighbours. Our place is near the "Mittellandkanal" and as soon as the waether gets warmer again there's the opportunity to go stand up paddle boarding.Help
These tasks would be possible/helpful: help with housework, cleaning, cooking, grocery shopping, taking things to the recycling place, help with diy and repair tasks around the house and in the garden, carry furniture, look after cats, sort seeds, make plan for veggie beds, prepare beds for autumn/winter, tree pruning, weeding.
I'm off sick at the moment with back problems, so I am always around to show tasks or learn from you, lend a hand and work together.
There is also the possibility for conversational English meetings with senior citizens.
Languages

The room is in our shared house. It's got a comfortable Sofa bed and some shelves and seating.
The volunteers are welcome to share use of living room, cellar and garden.What else ...
There are 3 trams lines about 8 mins walk away, and a bus stop a minute from our door.
During winter you can go for walks along the canal or in the large city forest EILENRIEDE, during summer there are several lakes and many bike tracks to explore.
There are also community indoor pools, some with sauna, reachable by bike or public transport.A little more information

She always made the effort to speak with me in German, my wish, even though her English is perfect.
Good sleep, good food, good contact with Manja, a warm, generous and open woman.
The help was simple and not too intense: helping… read more
