    Description

Hi ! We are George 65yo and Sofia 60yo a couple living in Selegoudi, a beautiful small village in Mani Laconia Greece.
Built on South Taygetos, about 25 km away from the town of Gythio 51 km away from Sparta and at 437 meters hight, Selegoudi is a small village surrounded by beautiful nature and olive trees.
Selegoudi and it's surrounding land and nearby villages is a region that has anything a visitor can find in a close distance.
Beautiful landscapes, a beautiful river that you can explore, with an impressive cave for it's source, an old bridge of the Ottoman era, an old castle that dates back in the medieval times, old churches and monasteries, and of course trekking paths in a pure natural environment with a variety of flora and fauna.
They also can take a trip to the beautiful seaside town of Gythio, the historical region of Mani, and to the historical city of Sparta.
The people here are friendly and they are familiar with volunteers as volunteers are hosted in our village for more than a decate.
Volunteers can learn more about the interesting history of the region, learn more about the flora and fauna of the region, engage in cultural exchange on language, tradition, customs, music and of course taste our cousine by the cooking art of Sophia !
Selegoudi and it's surrounding fields is a place were extra fine olive oil is produced, truly one of the best in the region due to it's landform and climate.
We moved here a couple of years ago, after our retirement, and we own now the cafe-restaurant of the village and taking care of our olive tree fields.
And it is exactly on the fields were we are looking for volunteers to help us.
Harvesting, Pruning, Brush cutting and Cleaning the fields.
The type of work varies depending on the type of the job that needs to be done, on the season and the weather conditions.
Volunteers will have the chance to experience and learn more about all the stages that lead to the production of the much precious olive oil which is for personal use.
We also have Oscar the dog in our family and volunteers can take care of him too, if they like.
We promise that the entire experience, more than interesting will surely be educating, adventurous and fun !!
We offer free accommodation and free meals, internet access is also provided.
