Part help exchange / part paid

We are looking for a couple (ideally, it's more fun!) wishing to spend the summer season in the forest. The offer is part help trade and part paid work. People wanting to gain small scale farming experience will be able to spend the summer in a tiny house by swapping part of their time in the garden. The garden would be a collaboration between the owners of the garden (Sam and Elan) and the workawayers. We keep this garden for pleasure, beauty and of course, food abundance but we had a baby in late 2018 and are looking for some help this season in maintaining and expanding our garden. The garden is located in the vacation center as is the tiny house. We aren't in a position to offer remuneration for garden work because the garden doesn't make any money, it is a hobby. We attend market to sell some of our surplus which goes to paying back the garden expenses.

For this reason, we want to offer a small source of income to the interested person or people. The job is part-time housekeeping in the vacation center (about 20 hours/week). Elan is co-owner of the vacation center and I (Sam) am manager and housekeeper.

This is a growing sustainable development project with the vision of becoming a closed loop Ecovillage including private residences, a vacation center, a nature park, a food forest, restaurants, waste management facilities and more. Nestled in the heart of the boreal forest, the site is experimentation grounds for tiny house living, ecological construction, organic agriculture and nature conservancy. This is a collective of businesses working in harmony with nature with the belief that better living is possible. The vacation center located in the center of the project is host to many examples of eco-buildings as well as a unique, round, glass walled yoga studio, and receives hundreds of guests a year. Environmental education can help us move forward to a brighter future and so we strive to offer a variety of courses, workshops and interning opportunities. Sharing knowledge allows us to grow our community and our minds.

    Fun activities:
    - Laughing
    - Swimming in the lake
    - Campfires and smores
    - Relaxing in a hammock
    - Singing in the sun
    - Listening to the forest
    - Hiking
    - Canoeing

We hope to find someone who wants to learn and collaborate in agriculture. We have been working this land for a few years and have gained some knowledge we would be very happy to share with others.
Additionally, this is a growing Ecovillage. It is quite fun during the summer as there are many small projects going on and it's very beautiful. The hours are very flexible and we are easy-going.

  • What else ...

    What else ...

There is an abundance of woods, fields, empty acres and trails nearby to explore. Wild berries are common. The ecovillage is in Harrington, near the Mont-Tremblant region. It boasts its own serene, private lake for interns to enjoy.
Some non motorised watercraft are also available for use. Aside from the lake, there is a small river that crosses the land, offering many enjoyable nooks along the Frog trail. Other outdoor activities may be available. Feel free to ask!
With regards to internet connection, we are happy to open our network and allow everyone to use it. It can sometimes be slow or down in bad weather. Heavy internet users (downloads, streaming, Netflix) can contribute to their usage (1$/Gb) by donating to the Internet box in the general store. We apologize for this inconvenience.
If you engage in any manner of craftsmanship, you are encouraged to continue doing so here during your off time, and to let us know in advance if there is anything we can do to facilitate it.
