I was born and raised and live in the local area. I manage the local airport which has commercial flights direct to Vancouver and services all local air traffic. During the fire seasons of 2017 and 2018, the airport was crucial to the helicopters and air tankers for fuel and other services. The airport is currently on a long term expansion plan.
In the course of an average day, I wear many different hats. I have been an Aircraft Maintenance Engineer for 32 years as well as a hunting and fishing guide for most of my life, as well as equipment operator, LNG plant operator, and beyond. I am very outdoor oriented and spend as much time outside as possible. My wife and I have an acreage on Anahim Lake and have boats, canoes, quads, horses, chickens, pigs, etc.

Learning the inner workings of an airport is a great experience. You will experience a great variety of life skills and lifestyle. The exposure to life in this remote area of British Columbia will be vast and is something you will remember forever.
I am looking for general help with the airport grounds maintenance and upkeep as well as at my property.
It can be anything from mowing lawns to fixing fences to running equipment. Cutting firewood for the winter supply is always a good time filler. There are always things to do, some days being busier than others. Everyday can provide a new challenge. Basic skills are all that is needed for most things. Between the airport and my property I am always building something so basic carpentry skills are an asset. I am building a steel shop this summer. You will be exposed to a very large variety of things to do.

I have a medium sized travel trailer which is located at my property and will only have you in it. The trailer is set up to cook yourself but all meals would be available to eat with my wife and I. We eat a great variety of food. I like to cook and am actually quite good at it.
This area of British Columbia is world renowned for its fishing and outdoor experience. The famous Rainbow Mountains and Tweedsmuir Park are only 20 minutes from my doorstep. Hiking, camping, fishing and wildlife viewing are always available. My house is on a lake so the birds and wildlife are abundant. I have boats and canoes so evening paddles and fishing are always available. The beautiful Bella Coola Valley is only 90 minutes away with great outdoor opportunities and some shopping. We are lucky enough to live in a part of the world that is 320km from the nearest cell phone coverage and public transit. We also live in an area that uses no insecticides so the mosquitos are abundant and extremely happy- bring bug dope.
