 - Description- Hi Folks,
we are Johanna and Benjamin and our kids Ava (11) Hannah Maeve (9) and Greta (7). We are a young, german speaking family that has lived in Portugal for over 12 years but now moved to Galicia.
Just recently (summer 23) we found our dream property that we are slowly transforming into a permaculture-homestead. We are still far away from being an up-and-runnig-farm yet, but every project has to start small at one point right? As it is a fairly big land to maintain with just the 2 of us we need self-driven, motivated volunteers
that can help with all the general daily tasks of a farm such as...
Gardening (planting, weeding, watering, soil improvement etc)
 woodworking
 irrigation-system and plumbing
 Fruit tree maintenance
 Chicken and duck-care
 Harvesting, preserving, drying
 Cooking
 building (eco-construction)
 renovating
All meals are home cooked and mostly eaten together and we eat from the garden as much as possible.
On your days off there are many beautiful things to do. For example...surfing, hiking, biking, visiting Santiago de Compostela and other cultural sites, enjoy the many waterfalls and natural pools that surround us.
 A car is required.
 More info about us:
We are a family of 5 (and 1 dog, 3 cats, indian runner ducks and a dozen chicken) that loves to surf and to be outdoors. Our aim is to live close to nature, regenerate the soil and make most of what the land offers us.
As we are in the middle of ongoing renovations we can't offer you great comfort but delicious food and good company.
We can provide 2 unfinished cabins, camping gear, bedding etc and there is electricity on the land, cooking facilities, fresh drinking water from our borehole, a compost toilet and an outdoor shower.
You are welcome to find a sweet spot to put up the tent or if you travel by van, you could also park your camper van on our land.
Ideally you already have building expertise or/and permaculture background with gardening and homesteading . Work is easy, but physical - around 4 h of "hands on" per day. Winter 24/25 we plan to finish the interior of 2 wooden cabins with clay walls and bathrooms with dry toilets...in spring we want to install some plant based grey water purification system as well as a clay-bentonite pont. Also there will be woodwork of various types such as mezzanines, kitchens and flooring...and of course the garden...Oouffff....did I forget anything ? We need to maintain the grass, the fern, the food forest and oversee the water situation. Watering is crucial as it is hot in summer and we need help with that.
PS: No, we dont have sheep yet, we just loved the picture from our Neighbours sheep.
The beaches are about 5-10 min by car. Restaurants are within walking distance.
We look forward to welcoming and sharing experiences with you!
