Description
We would love to welcome you to our home on the beautiful island of Mallorca! We are located just outside Palma, with very easy access to the beach, supermarkets, cafes and transportation to many events taking place in the city.
I am a single mother living with my 10 year old boy and 2 year old girl. We relocated to Spain 8 years ago.
The kids spend half of the time with me and half of their time with the father. The au pair help is needed only when the kids are at my home.
We live in a 3 bedroom flat in an area called Can Pastilla in a community with gardens and communal pools. We have a room available for the au pair where there is a bed a closet and a desk. In the community we have a garage too, where we keep bikes for rides along the coast.
We need some extra hands here at home during the summer to help us with the kids needs. The mother is at home so there will be a division of tasks - either play/look after our toddler or help with meals. We can decide what works best depending on preference.
We expect the au pair to help mainly in the daytime during weekdays. There are a few pockets of intense activity where we need help - mainly around breakfast and dinner.
In the weekends if the au pair wishes to help or join us on small trips, would be very welcome. -

Cultural exchange and learning opportunities
Our home is naturally multicultural - English is our everyday language, and Spanish is part of our daily life whenever we're out in the neighborhood, at the market, or hosting local friends. Workawayers will be immersed in that mix from day one, and we're happy to help with Spanish along the way.
We live in a lively area of Palma with easy beach access, a great local community, and a city full of year-round events — food markets, concerts, cultural fairs, and the charm of the old town. We love exploring these together as a family and always welcome a Workawayer to join us. Mallorca also has an active international and expat community, so there are plenty of opportunities to meet people from all over the world beyond just our household.
At home, we share meals, cook together, and enjoy relaxed time with the kids and visiting friends.
In terms of skills, we're happy to share knowledge of local island life - best beaches, hiking trails, bars and restaurants and local shops.
What we hope to learn is just as important to us. Every person who comes from a different background brings a new lens on the world, and we genuinely look forward to learning about different cultures, lifestyles, and ways of doing things- whether through conversation, food, music, or just day-to-day life together. Our children especially benefit from growing up around people with different stories, and that's something we truly value - we previously hosted au pairs from Europe -

Help
We need some extra hands here at home to help us with the kids needs. The mother is at home so there will be a division of tasks - either play/look after our toddler or help with meals. We can decide what works best depending on preference. Here are the potential tasks, all depending on who spends time with who:
If spending time with our daughter you can:
Play with her - she has many toys, doll house, stuffed animals and games, reading, listening to music
go out for a walk with the stroller at the beach
feed her homemade food
she is comfortable telling what she likes to do
Take her to the park or to the pool
If helping with the house chores you can:
prepare light snacks and tidy up after breakfast/dinner
help with meal preparation for lunch/dinner
tidying up play and living areas from toys
light cleaning (fx vacuum cleaning common areas, putting dirty dishes in the dishwasher, folding laundry)
We expect the au pair to help mainly in the daytime during weekdays. There are a few pockets of intense activity where we need help - mainly around breakfast and dinner.
In the weekends if the au pair wishes to help or join us on small trips, would be very welcome. -
