Description
Hi! We’re Sheena and Trevor, an Australian couple who purchased an old stone house in a listed hamlet in the Correze region of France. We have two well-behaved rescue dogs, who enjoy their twice-daily romps in the forest. We are located close to a small river, and there are extensive woodlands that are criss-crossed by old, medieval pathways. There is also a large lake close by for swimming and fishing. It is a walker's and nature-lover's paradise.

Staying with us offers a chance to experience authentic rural French life while sharing skills and stories in a relaxed setting. We enjoy meeting people from different backgrounds and exchanging ideas over shared meals. You’ll have the opportunity to learn about local techniques for old buildings and gardening, as well as explore the rich history of the Corrèze region, with its medieval villages, markets, and local traditions. We’re also happy to share insights into Australian culture and our experiences of adapting to life in France. Whether it’s through hands-on work, exploring the local area, or simply chatting over a glass of wine, we hope to create a rewarding and enjoyable cultural exchange. We are both learning French and would love to share learning opportunities.
Help
There’s always something to do here, and we’re looking for Workawayers who are fit, practical, and willing to get stuck in.
Tasks will depend on the weather and current priorities, but may include: gardening – creating garden beds on terraces, pruning, and clearing small trees, and general small home projects – a mix of hands-on tasks to help maintain and improve the property. If you enjoy varied, hands-on work in a scenic rural setting, we’d love to host you.Languages

Our native language is English but we are both learning French. It is hard, and speaking and listening is the most difficult part, but we enjoy learning. We are more than happy to help you with your English.Accommodation
Workawayers will have their own private bedroom, located next to a shared shower room and private toilet. The space is simple, comfortable, and quiet—perfect for unwinding after a day's work. While the house is a work in progress, we aim to provide a welcoming and relaxed environment.
What else ...
We are 25 - 30 kilometres away from major towns. Our village has a small epicerie and boulagerie/chocolaterie. There is no local public transport. Electric bikes will be made available to get around the local area. You will be welcome to join us, if you so wish, when we go on weekly visits to shops/market etc.
