    Description

Hi, and welcome to Ireland !
we are an easy- going, mature couple who have a farmhouse which I (Jayavati) live in , and a self contained cabin which my dear husband Jeremy lives in .
We grow organic vegetables, and need help with planting, weeding, watering etc: and help with careing for the horses.
We keep dogs, cats, ponies, and foster abused and starved horses and foals for an Irish Rescue, not for profit Charity.

We need help with various projects around the gardens, also to muck out stables, feed and groom horses, and help in the house. Knowledge of horses is an advantage but not essential.
Jeremy designs eco houses and is a carpenter and musician, I am a retired psychotherapist and like to study animal behaviour.
The gardens are a lovely peaceful place to be, and we are in a most beautiful part of Ireland.

    Cultural exchange and learning opportunities

We have beautiful mountain walks on our doorstep, and it is great for nature lovers and hikers. There are also many beaches, and seaside villages a short drive away.
There are music pubs in the local village and often festivals, with busy Markets in Bantry and Skibbereen every week.
You will need your own transport or use taxis to get home. We go to town most days and can give you a lift.
You will definitely need to be a dog lover or you may get overwhelmed !
IMPORTANT TO NOTE... We are vegetarian / vegans and ask that you please dont bring meat or fish into the property.
We are very rural with no bus service. The nearest bus route is 4 klms away.
Please only apply if you are over the age of 22 years.

    Help

We need help with our organic gardens, field tasks, and young rescued, abandoned and starved horses. We also need help with the dogs, and tasks around the house, .Its important that you enjoy being around dogs and horses. Kindness is essential as we often have frightened rescue animals here for rehabilitation. Also that you don't mind mud...this is the downside of Ireland unfortunately! We advise you to come prepared with waterproof boots and warm wet weather clothing.
We ask for 5 mornings per week with two free days a week.
PLEASE NOTE : We ask that all applicants are over the age of 22 years., you may like to have your own transport as we are not on a Bus route.

  • What else ...

    What else ...

We live simply but in comfort and lead a joy filled life. Enjoying the nature around us. We live in a rural area, NOTE...We are 4 klm from the nearest village and the public transport, so your own transport is desirable or you may feel isolated, unless you are hoping for a Nature immersion stay.
Our house backs onto mountains with great walks (the well known Sheeps Head Way). Spectacular views of the ocean and The Cork and Kerry mountains beyond.
We love having visitors and have been Helpx hosts for many years. We are new to workaway.
We look forward to welcoming you and sharing our home, country living with animals and laid back lifestyle.
The location is better suited to you if you prefer nature and tranquility rather than Towns, bars or night club life which will be hard to reach without your own transport or a taxi. That being said, there are great music bars and cafes in the nearest village of Ballydehob, (4 klms) Schull and Bantry or Skibbereen.
