    Description

Hi, and welcome to Ireland !
we are an easy- going, mature couple who have a farmhouse which I (Jayavati) live in with occasional family members or friends, a self contained cabin which my dear husband Jeremy lives in , and a small cabin for Travellers, workawayers and Helpxers.
We grow organic vegetables, and need help with planting, weeding, watering etc:
We keep dogs, cats, ponies, and rehabilitate / foster abused and starved horses for an Irish Rescue, not for profit, Charity.
    We often have rescue animals.
We need help with various projects around the gardens, also to muck out stables, feed and groom horses, and help take care of dogs .. Also strimming and weeding the garden. Knowledge of horses is an advantage but not essential.
Jeremy designs eco houses and is a carpenter and musician, I am a retired psychotherapist and horse trainer. The gardens are a lovely peaceful place to be, and we are in a most beautiful part of Ireland.

there will be opportunities to visit the sea, kayaking and swimming in good weather. We have beautiful mountain walks on our doorstep, and it is great for nature lovers and hikers.
There are music pubs in the local village and often festivals . You will need your own transport or use taxis to get home.
You can learn skills with organic gardening and handling horses . Also some help with simple general tasks etc. Depending on what projects we are working on.
Occasionally taking care of some friendly house dogs might be required, and being prepared to take on their various feeding routines and character quirks. You will definitely need to be an animal lover or you may get overwhelmed !
IMPORTANT TO NOTE... We are vegetarian / vegans.

  • Help

    Help

We need help with our organic gardens, field tasks, 2 ponies and one or two young rescued horses, dogs and odd tasks around the house, gardens and fields. So its important that you enjoy being around dogs and horses. Kindness is essential as we often have frightened rescue animals here for rehabilitation. Also that you don't mind mud...this is the downside of Ireland unfortunately! We advise you to come prepared with waterproof boots and wet weather clothing.
We ask for 5 half days per week with two free days a week, working around weather patterns on rainy days.

  • What else ...

    What else ...

We live simply but in comfort and lead a joy filled life. Enjoying the nature around us. We live in a rural area, NOTE...We are 5 klm from the nearest village and the public transport, but we go to town most days so there is opportunity to shop or explore. But your own transport is most desirable or you may feel isolated, unless you are hoping for a Nature immersion stay.
Our house backs onto mountains with great walks (the Sheeps Head Way). Spectacular views with beaches and hidden coves.
We love having visitors and have been Helpx hosts for many years. We are new to workaway.
We look forward to welcoming you and sharing our lovely home, country living with animals and laid back lifestyle.
The location is better suited to you if you prefer nature and tranquility rather than Towns, bars and night club life which will be hard to reach without your own transport or a taxi. That being said, there are great music bars and cafes in the nearest village of Ballydehob, Schull and Bantry or Skibbereen if you have a car. We can pick you up from the local town on your arrival and departure if arriving by public transport.
