  • Description

Bucolick Farm is a special 4 hectare property with natural beauty in every direction. It is an hour from the Brisbane CBD and an hour from the Gold Coast. Major supermarkets/shops are 5 minutes (car) or 20 minutes (cycle) in the country township of Beaudesert. Bucolick has solar panels for power and is self sufficient for water. Our vision is to run Bucolick as an off-grid country retreat in future years. We are gently landscaping parts of Bucolick farm along permaculture principles for additional vegetable crops and poultry, and planting native Rainforest trees to make the ecosystem for animals and birds as good as it can be. The property is already beautiful just as it is, with mature fruit trees and elevated views of the surrounding countryside. Bucolick really only needs some easy maintenance and some help with short term mini-projects. All are structured and hopefully fun!

We are a professional couple who have travelled extensively ourselves. We have two teenage children and two gorgeous friendly dogs.

This is a semi-rural area and there is abundant wildlfe. There is constant birdsong and a large troupe of Grey Kangaroos will often come up to nibble the grass around the house a couple of times a day. There are turtles in the dam and every rainfall will bring out a chorus of frogs. A green tree frog will occasionally find it's way into the shower during the hot wet season. Classic Queenslander Houses in true original country settings are rare and Bucolick is one of the best examples of one.

When we are around you can be actively involved in our family and life around the property. There is likely to be opportunity for trips into Brisbane etc if you have no car and you are staying with us for a Month or more. There will definitely be a few nights where you will be at the farm and we may be 'up in town' where the kids go to school, so you have opportunity for both privacy/your own space AND family involvement.

You will have a Private room with overhead fans and a Queen sized bed. Your room has French doors that open onto one of the verandahs overlooking the swimming pool. The home itself is a traditional timber Queenslander home, over 100 years old, and has wide shady verandahs on 3 sides and multiple living areas. The kitchen and bathrooms are modern. Beds are all new. Furniture is a mix of new and antique. The kitchen and loungeroom have airconditioning if it's too hot or too cold.

There is no cable internet and no cable television on the property. There is good network reception for internet if you have your own phone data plan and your own device. There is a modern TV for DVDs and gaming: we can supply consoles and games if you are gamers. There are bluetooth speakers for access to Spotify etc.

We keep the fridge stocked with fresh food, particularly fresh unprocessed food. We can cater for vegetarians, vegans or omnivores with advance notice.
You can use our large beautiful natural swimming pool (with spa and waterfall)

  • What else ...

    What else ...

There are bus services from Beaudesert to Browns Plains that Regularly Link to services to Brisbane. There are also Buses that go directly to Brisbane but these are less frequent. If you have access to a car, the entire Scenic Rim countryside down to Northern New South Wales is yours to explore, and is incredibly beautiful. There are rainforests, permanent creeks, hiking and beautiful countryside. The Gold Coast Beaches are an hour by car.

Bucolick Farm is a No Smoking property. Because of it's age and historical importance, we also request no candles on the property. We do occasionally have a big supervised night time bonfire under the stars down near the dam! There is also a 'proper Aussie' open barbecue in the pool area well away from the house.
