  Description

  Currently living in the home is Myself, 50 yr old active woman and my flat mate, 38 yr old active male and of course the two dogs, Max and Charles. We cook generous meals around the beautiful chefs kitchen, share laughs and are a very easy going tribe (yes, even the dogs). I am Looking for help with prepping the gardens, general home maintenance/cleaning . I also have a property level that needs reinforcement from erosion/dog use so wall building and knowledge of outdoor structural walls would be extremely helpful .It will be a physically challenging project to complete but I will work along side . We can crank the music and have some fun.
  The jobs I need help with can be achieved in a week so best suited for intern stays between longer jobs.

  My home is located on beautiful Vancouver Island, which is a playground for outdoor enthusiast. I am walking distance to the ocean, which you can see from the front windows. I have traveled the world and met people from Many corners of it. I love learning about different cultures, experiencing new foods and generally immersing myself into new experiences. Vancouver Island is known for it's multi-culturalism, so you can experience it in many ways as it's diversity creates a very unique culture and Eco system just waiting to be explored. Bird watchers can sit on my back deck and just wait to see what flies by, and if you're lucky, you may even see a bear or two. I would love to exchange language, food and stories and definitely look forward to making new friends and family .
  If outdoor pursuits are not your thing, don't worry, there is plenty more that VI offers.

  Help

  I began a complete overhaul of my back yard to make growing food more functional and attractive for myself and for my dogs. The main project is to transform the back yard you see in the pictures by setting up garden spaces and beautifying the surroundings while making it more functional for my two dogs. I am eager to work alongside and have creative ideas as to how it will all turn out but am very open to creative input and rethinking my ideas. In addition to the back yard oasis creation, there is general home maintenance (inside and out) like pruning bushes, spraying, cleaning , basic building etc. there is also need for someone who’s experienced with landscape reinforcement/ building a rock wall to combat erosion.
  I am not an expert gardener, but have a fascination with biology and horticulture . If you have experience and knowledge in this area, that would be a great asset.

  I only speak English, but speak little bits of many more languages that I picked up in my travels. I would happily help you become more fluent in English and would jump at the opportunity to learn more of any other language.

  Accommodation

  You will rest easy on a comfy queen sized bed in a private room in a large home. Hot showers, laundry and all the amenities you need are also provided . Meals will depend on the circumstances and preferences. I am happy to prepare home cooked meals or to share the kitchen in a joint effort. Of note, I am not a vegetarian but do eat mostly vegetarian meals. Meat eaters are very welcome and will be accommodated.

  What else ...

  Located approximately 25 minutes outside of Victoria BC. It’s a small town with a few restaurants, pubs, grocery and shopping.
  The home and property is no tobacco smoking and no heavy drinking or drugs. (420 friendly) .
  There are two very friendly dogs, one is hypoallergenic and no non-shedding and one is a golden lab who might leave you with furry pants.
  If time and circumstances permit, maybe we can hit up one of the epic hiking trail that Vancouver Island is so famous for. There's also plenty of opportunity for paddlers, runners, mountain bikers, motorcyclists, rock hounds etc. If outdoor pursuits are not your thing, there's plenty of sites to see and experience on VI.

  Our wifi is plentiful and the home is quite large so we can easily find you a quiet place to work, although with the natural surroundings, I suspect you will opt to take advantage of the outdoor space for this. I can also work around your schedule within reason.
