Description
My name is Scott, founder of RDS, an international martial arts and performance training organisation established in China in 2007.
I live a healthy lifestyle in remote locations where I have set up international training facilities to help people transform their health, fitness, and mindset through structured physical training, proper nutrition, and practices such as meditation, yoga, and martial arts.
After nearly two decades operating residential training facilities in China, Sweden, the Caribbean, and the Philippines, I am now developing our newest location on the island of Bohol — a large private resort that will become a world-class health, fitness, and training retreat.
This is not a hostel or backpacker environment. It is a focused, peaceful place dedicated to discipline, self-development, health, and meaningful work.
We are currently restoring and preparing the property, and I am looking for capable, reliable, and motivated individuals who would like to be part of building something special from the ground up.

Cultural exchange and learning opportunities
Living here provides a unique opportunity to experience life within a private health and fitness retreat environment focused on discipline, structure, and personal development.
You will gain insight into how an international training retreat operates, including property management, hospitality, fitness culture, and the daily routines that support a healthy and productive lifestyle.
I have spent nearly two decades developing training facilities around the world, and volunteers who demonstrate reliability, consistency, and a strong work ethic may have the opportunity to learn about physical training, fitness, and the principles behind building strength, resilience, and discipline.
You will also have access to excellent facilities including a fully equipped gym, swimming pool, yoga space, sauna, and peaceful natural surroundings.
This environment is ideal for individuals who value health, structure, and meaningful work, and who want to experience a focused and purposeful way of living.
The tropical island setting of Bohol also offers beautiful beaches, nature, and local culture to explore during your free time.
This is a non-smoking environment.
Important Note
Please only contact me through the Workaway platform. Due to the volume of inquiries and ongoing project work, replies may take some time, but all serious applicants will receive a response.
This opportunity is intended for individuals who are genuinely interested in contributing to the project and being part of a professional and respectful environment.
Help
We are currently restoring and preparing a large private health and fitness resort, and I am looking for reliable, practical individuals to assist with the day-to-day upkeep and development of the property.
Typical tasks include:
• General cleaning of rooms, common areas, and outdoor spaces
• Assisting with landscaping, gardening, and maintaining the grounds
• Swimming pool cleaning and basic maintenance
• Helping organize, move, and remove old items as we restore the property
• Helping with general household tasks such as maintaining shared spaces, assisting with communal meals, and keeping the environment clean and organized.
• Helping prepare rooms and facilities for future guests
• General assistance with keeping the property clean, functional, and improving steadily
This is not heavy construction work, but it does require people who are physically capable, proactive, and willing to work properly.
If you have practical skills such as cooking, gardening, maintenance, or general property care, your help in improving and developing the project is welcome.
We maintain a structured, respectful environment. Reliability, initiative, and a good attitude are essential.
I also have a 10-year-old son, Kenji. Qualified teachers or individuals with strong educational backgrounds are welcome to assist with his education if this is something they are genuinely capable of.
For the right individuals who demonstrate strong work ethic, reliability, and professionalism, there may be opportunities for longer-term or paid positions as the resort becomes fully operational. Several of my previous volunteers have gone on to become long-term staff.

Accommodation
Accommodation will be provided within the resort, typically in a shared hotel-style room or staff accommodation depending on availability and the number of volunteers present at the time.
All rooms are clean, comfortable, and located within the private resort grounds. Private cottages may be available in certain situations, but shared accommodation should be expected as standard.
You will receive three meals per day. Food is nutritious, healthy, and prepared fresh on site. Meals typically consist of a mix of local and international dishes, with a strong focus on proper nutrition and quality ingredients.
The environment is peaceful, safe, and structured, and located within a tropical island setting surrounded by nature.
Meals are nutritious and balanced. Vegetarian diets can be accommodated, but we are not able to support specialized or restrictive diets.
What else ...
The resort is located on the island of Bohol, Philippines, in a peaceful tropical setting surrounded by nature. Beautiful beaches, waterfalls, and local towns are easily accessible during your free time.
This is a structured, respectful environment, and we expect volunteers to be responsible, mature, and capable of contributing positively to the project.
Free time can be spent exploring the island, relaxing at the resort, training, swimming, or enjoying the natural surroundings.
We typically accept volunteers for stays of at least 4 weeks, as this allows time to properly integrate and contribute meaningfully. We are primarily looking for individuals interested in staying at least one month or longer.
This opportunity is best suited for individuals who are independent, reliable, and interested in being part of a serious and professional environment.

The family is super nice & they always made sure that I felt comfortable. The work was varied and a lot of fun. My to dos were related to work around the house, such as painting or digging trenches. The working hours were 4-5 hours per day (5 days a week) with breaks and after… read more

I recommend her and would welcome her back to my place in the future!
The work was easy as I had some different tasks around the barn like scraping off the paint or painting the outside of the yoga studio. I had to work 4 hours a day and it was up to me when I started.
I was able to train with him everyday which was hard but I really liked it. He is a good trainer and I was able… read more
