My name is Mohammed from the Al-Zalabieh Bedouin tribe and I run a Bedouin camp and tour company in the beautiful Wadi Rum desert in Jordan.
My family lives in Wadi Rum village at the beginning of the desert as well as inside the desert's beautiful protected area where we keep our animals (goats, chicken, camels, sheep, donkeys, pigeons) and run our desert camp for tourists.
We have a house in Wadi Rum village in addition to our authentic Bedouin camp in the desert.

Volunteers will get to experience the unique Bedouin hospitality. Volunteers will get their own bed in my house in the village and will have all of their food provided for them. I will also teach the volunteers Arabic if they wish. The location of our house in the beautiful Wadi Rum valley is truly special and volunteers will receive a warm welcome from myself and my friends and family. You will learn about the traditional lifestyle of the Bedouin community.
In their free time, volunteers can explore the village and Wadi Rum and enjoy the amazing scenery of the desert.
I have been working as a tour guide here for the last 7 years and enjoy sharing the special Bedouin culture and surrounding landscape with visitors to the area.
I need volunteers to help me expand my company's online presence to attract new visitors. In addition, photographers and volunteers with experience in social media marketing are also desired. Also, there are the goatskin huts to prepare for guests, tidying up after they leave, helping prepare Bedouin cuisine dinner cooked under the sand, breakfast and being available to answer guests' questions. Most guests stay just one day and night to experience Wadi Rum desert wilderness.
I'm currently working in my family's campsite but am planning to set up my own campsite in the desert. I already have some ideas but need help with implementing them and generating new ones. I'm still in the process of figuring out how my camp should look like, and as soon as I have the money for it, I'll start building it and making it eco-friendly (which is very important in the desert) so I'll need some help with building.
Volunteers are asked to have strong English skills to communicate both with me and the guests.
We also have fun times around the campsite stargazing, having dinner in a cool cave, sharing experiences and ideas!
The accommodation will depend on the volunteer and the work at the time. Whilst in the village, the volunteer will have a private room with internet access. The volunteer may also stay at our camp in the desert in a private tent when we are hosting visitors there. All meals will be provided for the volunteers every day.
The volunteers will have 2 entirely free days a week but the rest of the time work is very relaxed and the volunteer will have plenty of free time each day. On their days off, volunteers can visit other places in Jordan like Petra, Amman and the nearby city of Aqaba by the Red Sea. Aqaba is a resort town with a beautiful beach and the Red Sea is famed for its scuba diving locations. A bus departs the village every morning for Aqaba, and takes 45 minutes.
