Thanks to Helle and Frank for having me. It was my first work away and I stayed with them for one month and it was such a nice time! Even though the weather was rough some days I really enjoyed my stay. I am so thankful that I was able to learn so much about animals, the living in Denmark and live in general. … read more discussions and all in all the stay really cleared my mind. The "work" was more of just usual farm tasks and didn't feel like work while being surrounded by all those fantastic animals! I had a lot of free time and Frank and Helle were always making sure I could see new things around the area or take me-time like reading books or whatever I wanted to do. I hope we will see each other again someday because you are so wonderful people with awesome animals! (Also I am very curious about how all the animals envole over the time since they were all such strong characters and at least with the puppies I was able to see how quickly they can change!)
Even though I only stayed one month they made me feel like home.
Can recommend this a 100% to you if you are REALLY into animals and not shy about getting dirty here and there.You can only contact Workawayers who have an active membership.

I stayed at Helle's for a week this summer and it was lovely! During this short time I truly learned a lot about animals and even about myself. I also got to know her son Rune, who is just great!

… read more of the Danish culture and Rune took some time to take me to the beach, which I value deeply!
The house is located on the beautiful danish countryside, which I really enjoyed taking walks on and observing the agriculture. I mostly worked with Helle's horse, but also got a chance to follow her training the herding dogs. The horse is trained the western way, but I feel like - as a dressage rider - I got the hang of it quite quickly! It was interesting to work with a different style of riding!
Spending time (watching Star Wars or horsemanship videos) and chatting with Helle and Rune was always a good time and I'm looking forward to visit them again!Feedback

… read more horses, which I am very grateful for (a big thanks to Assa and Molly who put up with me :)). I really enjoyed my time there, and I still miss Assa, Molly and all the other animals!
Usually the work did not take very long so I got plenty of free time. The area is really nice, there are beautiful forests nearby to take walks, you can visit Nyborg and Odense, even Copenhagen is not far.

Sabrina stayed with us at our litle farm for A month, Sabrina setteled in very easy, and Got A good feeling of the Daily task on the farm.

Sabrina painted Windows and Gates on the farm, and she did A nico job painting 👍
Sabrina is vegetarian but have no problem maling her own food, or just leave out the Meat when she east was served.
Sabrina are very easy going person to work together with, and have A natural flow in teamwork.
Sabrina was also House sitting White we where on vacation, and we had no second thoughts about leasing the farm in Sabrina Care.
Sabrina also helped training and feeding sheepdogs, and want to A sheepdog trail.
Sabrina has High moral and no problem og Living or following the covid 19 regulations .
We enjoyed Sabrina stay with us, and wish her all the Best, and hopefully some Nice workaway stay when she leaves for new travelling experience 🥇👍

Kai stayed with us here on the litle farm, and Kai is A perfect gentleman, and he bakes the Best Pies ever. My husbond an i dont agree on wich one was the best, pecan pie or pumkin pie. But either Way, its A rare treat to come home from work, and the House smells like A first class bakery.

Kai have assisted my husband in butchering lam, and even buchtered A lam all by him self. Kai showed Big interest and skill in tanning the sheep hides. With 2 different tanning methods. Kai is not affraid of doing new things, the old Way. It was very special to follow Kai tanning hides, in an old Way, brain tanning. Even the many weeks of heavy rain, made it difficult to get the proces the best circumstanses.
We loved to listen to Kai opinions about Donald T.
And at last, i was introduced to horror show :)
Kai is A very trustworthy person, with A total Down to Earth Way about Life. It has been joy, to get the to know Kai, and we wish him a memorable journey, and your alwayes welcome in our litle farm Kai.

I have been to many places, and dozens of farms across several countries but I dont think there is anywhere I've felt more welcome.
Helle and Frank are extremely nice and down to earth. Helle speaks very fluent English and has many incredible insights into psychology and is a treasure trove of information regarding the training of dogs. While
… read more the training is not always for the feint of heart the results produce extremely well trained collies fitting their pedigree and certificates. I was in awe when I saw with the slightest blow of a whistle a dog so far away would IMMEDIATELY obey. Whispering their name they would come back and stay behind the owner, incredible. Frank is very nice, his English can be tricky at times but he seems very capable of communicating everything he means, for fluent English speakers you wont have any issues, if English is a second language there might be some confusion. We had many fun conversations, hes a very knowledgable fisherman and a great guy to hang out with.
If you want to see historical sights the hosts are more than happy to show you around. There are many castles and beautiful scenery. I strongly recommend taking the electric bike out for a ride to see the true Danish countryside. I managed to see some incredible things from castles to old viking graves to viking ships and museums, not to mention I had an amazing experience working with their dwarf sheep. The work was light and typically doesnt take more than an hour depending on the tasks, mainly caring for the dog kennels and feeding the furnace, cleaning the barn and sheep paddock so I had plenty of opportunities to share my love for baking and see the amazing country of Denmark.
I got an opportunity to experience butchering, which you arent forced to do but if you want to experience the proper farmers life I'd recommend it. I showed interest and was given the opportunity to process 2 sheep, one by myself, and had a really fun time trying to figure out how to tan sheep hides both naturally and artificially.
The farm is located perfectly, it's not very far from Copenhagen you can easily take the train or bus to the city, the flix bus is very cheap and its situated in a historic treasure trove of viking burials and landmarks, I strongly recommend visiting "romantisk have" outside the village of Birkum, its within biking distance and has an amazing trail to walk through a very beautiful garden behind huge Danish estates.
You just have to explore, and if theres something that you really enjoy, let Helle or Frank know. It was a very relaxing and enjoyable experience, be it watching a movie with them, working with the sheep or caring for the collies, there is always something to keep you busy, you just need to go for it :) walk around, take the e-bike down to nyborg, go north, go west or east, theres so much to see. You're never far from a coast.

I had an absolutely amazing time at Helle’s farm! I stayed there for a month and I couldn’t have asked for a better Workaway. I learnt so much, from desensitizing horses to training working border collies! The dogs are so friendly and always happy to see you. Helle made me feel very welcome and I quickly felt at home. It’s always nice working on her place, i had a lot of free time to go for a weekend on my own in Copenhagen, and a weekend in Odense. I traveled by bike several times in Nyborg, at the beach, in Odense and all around Ullerslev. Even if its a house in the middle of countryside, i never got bored! Its was awesome staying with you and I really enjoyed the cultural exchange with the danish farm living! I will always remember those teachings in life she shared with me.
