Description
Hello travellers.
Our names are Evan and Ammar and for the last several years we've been living on a beautiful property adjacent to my families business. We have a large house on 100 acres of mixed hardwood, sugar maples and planted red and white pines along with a great open field we play baseball in. We live with a dog, a cat and 19 chickens. We have a sauna, cold plunge, a large garden and beautiful fire pit. We're a short walk from a lake with access to canoes, kayaks and SUP boards.
I am director of a local music festival and have roots in the Ontario music scene, We often house touring bands on the road between Toronto and Montreal and throw shows in our local towns, Perth and Smiths Falls. Occasionally we will host a show at the property as well.
We are always up to some new project or another and I thought welcoming workaway folks might be a great way to meet new friends and take our vision for the property a reality.
All humans welcome, our house is 420 and LGBTQ friendly, we have no tolerance for any hateful, bigoted or mysogonistic behavior of any kind. Dogs are welcome conditionally, please inquire :)

Cultural exchange and learning opportunities
Staying with us is a connection to the amazing community of Carpenters, artists, musicians, makers, farmers, climbers, paddlers, and creatives of all types that Perth and Lanark County has to offer. We can show you around to the best swimming holes, restaurants, music festivals and Saunas around. We love listening to and playing music, cooking good meals, having bonfires and paddling. We offer a laid back, accepting environment where you can be yourself and make yourself at home.

Help
This summer we are looking to take our projects and our house as community space to the next level. We get up early and do projects. I will be home for lunches and finish work around 5 monday-thurs. The idea is that Workawayers will have the place to themselves to hang out and chip away at projects at their own pace. We can hang out in the afternoon, evenings, and arrange tasklists for the following day.
Projects we are looking for help with this summer include..
- Help with planting, tending and expand and our gardens, vegetable and perennial.
-Help with building projects, including renovating an old retro camper back to life, building a wood burning hot tub, a pizza oven, a chicken run, the list goes on!
-milling Logs on our bandsaw mill.
-cutting and stacking firewood
-trail and forest maintenance.
-feeding and caring for the chickens
-help in the preparation of our September Music festival, Hollowfest!
-other cool stuff.
