The farm is nestled into the Irish countryside in the beautiful county of Kilkenny. The farm is set along the banks of the river Nore and is roughly 10km from the historic and medieval city of Kilkenny.
We would like to develop the farm using an alternative mindset to try create a sustainable, living project with organic and permaculture practices at the heart of our endeavours. This has already been a huge learning experience for everyone who has been involved, any of that learning we are happy to share.
We have already made huge headway restoring the farm over the last four years. We have begun construction and planning of various eco buildings, we are restoring all our sheds to a working state, while taking on a vegetable growing project. All our projects to date begin by up-cycling and re-purposing things that we find or have bartered for. We are also big believers in planting trees and promoting biodiversity.
We need help, expertise and enthusiasm to drive this project on further and to continue developing our learning experience. are a driven, hard working, with strong careers forged in horticulture and tree surgery . We have worked and traveled ourselves and now see it as the perfect way to give life to our dream while connecting with good people and sharing stories.
We have bikes, nearby forests and kayaks for exploring during your time off. Your accommodation is in a self contained caravan in the yard but not too far away from the house. Shower facilities are in the main house (at the moment) with the hope to complete the construction of a eco outdoor shower very soon (and with your help) .
We are looking for someone long term or short term that will get the run of the place and not need much guidance after they have learnt the ropes.
There will be loads of scope for self directed projects and we are open to new ideas.
At the moment we are looking for help in setting up -
- A compost heated shower
- Irrigation systems
- Chopping and bagging firewood
- Milling timber and helping with creative timber projects
- Maintaining the Garden and farmyard
- Caring for chickens, cat and dog
- Household help
Looking forward to hearing from you.
