I live in a small house with a garden, very close to the sea. The garden is always in need of some TLC. The village is at the Oosterschelde on one of the former islands in the SW of the Netherlands. I live with two small/mid size dogs.
As an experienced host, I love the interaction with volunteers from different countries and backgrounds - as long as we share a respect for the environment, animals and our fellow humans. The spare bedroom I have, has one double bed, so suitable for single volunteers or a couple. During the day, I work at home (as a translator).
I am a vegetarian (occasionally eating fish) and a non-smoker. Vegans welcome!
I do like a glass of wine or beer over dinner, but I am not in for heavy drinkers.
Smoking only outside the house.
I used to live in Northern Spain but have now moved back to the Netherlands. So - no tons of foster dogs, mountains or donkeys any more (most of the feedback is still for my place in Northern Spain), but I am still the same person and I now live next to the sea.
There is not as much work to be done here as in Ceceda, but there is also lots of opportunities for long walks or cycle rides along the coast. We have endless fields and wide views of the sea. You can bring your own dog if sociable.
Help welcome and needed to get the endless hedge ready for winter and get the garden prepared for next year.
I am often away during the weekends, and my oldest doggie does not handle changes or being on a boat very well anymore (at more than 17 years old, she is allowed) so someone to take care for her at home at times would be great.
Creating/ Cooking family meals
Help around the house
Get to know the sometimes sunny and often windy SW of the Netherlands with a tidal dam.
I am looking for some help with the ongoing battle to keep the garden in shape. Lots of weeding to do! Walk and cuddle the dogs!
This host offers a language exchange
I am a translator, so we can talk about languages and practice!
A guest bedroom (double bed) for 1 or 2 persons.
There is space to park your camper van up to 7m length
Walking and cycling, lots of different sea birds.
We have a small grocery store next door, but shopping malls are approx. 15 km away, so for city life this is not the right place.
Public transport: by bus to get to a city at 14 km with a railway station (Goes). Good connections anywhere from Goes.
I speak Spanish, English, Dutch and a little German.
Limited internet access
We have pets
We are smokers
Can host families
The spare bedroom upstairs has a desk and a good office chair. I also work from home so internet is always first on my list.
My campervan is also parked outside, but there is space for a second one on the driveway, about 7m max. Power available from the garage.
I have two medium-sized dogs myself, so you and your dog (dogs should be spayed/neutered) are welcome!
