These were wonderful weeks. Paco's project is truly noble and necessary for the benefit of the people. Working and living with them, I learned a lot, both in Spanish and through practical experience. Living with them during the winter was an enriching experience that allowed me to reconnect with nature and its beauty. The place is magnificent and full of possibilities and things to discover.

Silvana hosted me for a few days in exchange for some crafts around her house. She is very flexible and accomodating, trusting and with a sense of humor. I really enjoyed my time there :^) The room she offers is very confortable and feels a little bit like a mountain chalet. The location is perfect, on the edge of Santa Cruz, in a cute neighborhood full of cats and close to a supermarket. I would gladly come back Thank you Silvana !

Jean worked at my place for a few days, and it was a very positive experience. He is flexible and reliable, and he siliconed my bathroom and installed a mosquito net in the window. Everything looked perfect afterward, and he showed strong attention to detail. On a personal level, he is easy-going, attentive, and pleasant to live with. Communication was smooth, and he was always open to feedback. I would recommend him to everyone! 🙂

Arthur was very excellent competent in his work skills. He managed well without any support from me. We had a good communication and things was going well between us. He is very strong physically and managed even challenging labour. We had very interesting conversations and I really enjoyed his stay here. I hope he will be coming back one day…

We had the chance to stay at Ashok’s coffee farm for one week. The farm and the house are located on the hills of Pokhara, offering an amazing view over the mountains and the city. Seeing everything from above was truly beautiful and peaceful. We worked in the mornings, taking care of the coffee plants with Ashok and the other volunteers. The work was interesting and well organized, and Ashok always took the time to explain and share his knowledge with us. During our free time in the afternoons, we loved walking around and discovering the surrounding mountains and the city of Pokhara. We also really enjoyed spending time with his family in the evenings, sharing dinners and talking with his daughter. They cooked delicious Nepalese dishes and made us feel very welcome. They even invited us to be part of their Dashain festival celebration, which was a very special and unforgettable experience for us.

El fondo San José fue mi última voluntaria en Chile, no estaba planeado, pero estoy agradecida de que terminara sucediendo. Mi trabajo consistió en crear visuales (fotos y vídeos) para las redes sociales del Fundo. Además de crear un plan de marketing, dar ideas sobre qué publicar en cada plataforma y cómo interactuar constantemente con sus clientes/seguidores. Aparte de eso, también estaba ayudando a preparar el quincho y con el mantenimiento del lugar antes y después de que la gente llegara, y ayudando con las excursiones escolares. Me estaba quedando en una habitación privada y compartía el baño con otro workawayer y su padre. La casa en la que nos alojábamos era linda, como el fundo. Por último, no había horarios, cada día era un poco diferente. A veces trabajaba por las mañanas y a veces todo el día con unas pausas (más así). Pero en todo caso, Pablo se adapta y la comunicación está bien. Tuve la oportunidad de pasar tiempo con algunos animales de la granja e incluso presenciar el nacimiento de un cordero, y finalmente caminar por la parte del bosque que poseen. A veces Pablo me llevaba a la ciudad y una vez visitábamos a sus vecinos, en la que fue una noche divertida. Me lo pasé muy bien en el fundo, y Pablo y su padre fueron muy acogedores y súper amables. Gracias Pablo por esta oportunidad, el fundo San José es un gran lugar con buena energía y rodeado de buena gente también.

My stay at the abbey was truly a beautiful time. I received much more than I could have expected. The surrounding nature is incredible, and the hosts are happy to lend bicycles and kayaks. Life there is modest and simple; the food comes from donations from supermarkets that would otherwise be thrown away — this is a wonderful initiative! However, it does sometimes happen that some products are in really poor condition, making it debatable whether they are still suitable to eat, but we have to use them in the kitchen anyway. The work is uncomplicated and pleasant, as it is done in groups and provides an opportunity to get to know other people. Integration with those who live there permanently — the young people attending the formation course — is somewhat difficult. This is probably intentional: Workaway volunteers function as a separate entity, with a separate house, and we often eat on our own. For me, however, this contact was important, and after many efforts I managed to become friends with some of residents. Importantly, most things are communicated in French, so if you need translation, it’s better to make sure you arrange it yourself ;) Nevertheless, the community is making an effort, and at times English translations are provided for people from other countries. Overall, I will remember my stay for the rest of my life. Thanks to my open requests — which were listened to! — I was able to participate as fully as possible in the spiritual and communal life of the abbey. The most beautiful thing is that the abbey remains open to people like me, inviting them into its life and shared space, which certainly requires additional energy. I attribute some of the difficulties to the complexity of communal life, and I am grateful to everyone for every smile, support, and openness <3

We both decided to stay for one week at the farm and we had a really great time. The house where you will stay is warm, cozy and calm, which make it easy to relax ( we loved the hamac 😜) David really took good care of us, and was always kind, available and attentive. He is a really nice person. We enjoyed working at the farm with all the volunteers, learning new things about nature and each other. During our free time we went to some waterfall and even swim in it, walked around the city … You will also eat typical food at the farm at lunch and dinner. They made us a Da nang speciality : Mi quang!!! One of our best workaway experience. We would definitely recommend it.

We were very pleased with Chris and enjoyed having him with us. He was originally meant to stay for two weeks, but we extended his stay by several more weeks—which speaks for itself. Chris was eager to help in a variety of roles, from planning renovation work to carrying out more labour-intensive tasks such as installing ceramic floor tiles. His ability to break problems down into smaller steps and independently research solutions online helped us tremendously with our projects. Chris was also highly motivated and proactive, anticipating our needs as we got to know each other and our respective working styles. Throughout our time working together, we had no disagreements and consistently focused on finding solutions to the challenges we faced. We will miss his smile and his cheerful “Hello!” each morning. We highly recommend Chris.

Giada and Alice stayed with us for two months and quickly became part of the family! We miss them very much and wish they could have stayed forever! They were absolutely fantastic Workaway-ers and we recommend them 100%. They were so eager to help, were fantastic with our dog and kids, and threw themselves into every task (even the not-so-fun tasks like cleaning up in the garden in the Norwegian rain!). They also did things without being asked which was amazing - e.g. seeing that the bins were getting full and taking them out, noticing that the kitchen floor was dirty and vacuuming... It was like having little fairies living in the house doing all of the little jobs that get too much for a busy working family! They were also independent and not afraid to work things out themselves and go off exploring, which was great, we never felt like we had to "entertain" them! They were also such sweet and lovely people, and we loved discussing the differences between Norwegian and Italian culture, and learning about their lives. They became good friends very quickly and I hope we can stay in touch. You are welcome back any time <3

Kristin was an outstanding volunteer. She was consistently warm, welcoming, and attentive with our hotel guests, always willing to help and frequently going above and beyond what was expected. She is highly intelligent, learns quickly, and is genuinely committed to doing excellent work. We would be happy to welcome her back at any time.

Staying with Martha was a true pleasure, and we can't wait until we can return to Arusha again in the future and see her again. From the moment we arrived, we were treated like long-lost friends, made to feel incredibly comfortable and welcomed into her home with open arms. The room for Workawayers is super comfy, and had everything you could possibly need for a relaxed, peaceful retreat after a day in the city! You can immediately feel how passionate Martha is about her home, her business and her beautiful country. She asked us to help her with some social media and website work, which we were happy to do. She didn't expect too much from us, and was extremely flexible with the schedule. Martha also arranged us lovely tours and activites in the local area. We had a tight timeline and we work remotely, but Martha was totally accommodating and made sure to organise excursions that worked for us! We really appreciated this. The best thing about this stay was the people, and the community. From the exciting bustle of Arusha city, to the peaceful village life of Shangarai, where Martha's home is located, you will feel like a local. You'll be greeted warmly by everyone you walk past, and you'll return home each evening to a delicious meal and a night of chatting and playing games with her wonderful family. Martha is a kind and bright light in this world. She will make you feel so at ease and cared for during your time. We would highly encourage anyone considering this Workaway to do it!

Jules is very kind and organised. He carried out tasks to a high standard. Jules always followed tasks as requested and was very kind in asking if we need any extra help. He was good with the children and had fun playing with them, big games of soccer, board games and even a Nerf war! We wish you well on your journey Jules and thank you for the time you gave to our family.

Lea is very organised and carried out tasks thoroughly. She kept our home very clean and tidy during her stay here and that was a very good feeling. She was always sweet and polite to deal with. Lea seemed to really enjoy helping out with Pawel's Art sales at the local market. We think Lea very much enjoys business and will do very well in this setting. We wish Lea well on her journey.

We stayed 3 weeks with Maria, Carl, Tommy and Maumau. Overall it was a great experience. The little studio was exactly as shown on the pictures. Tommy is a super cute dog and once maumau feels comfortable you will see him here and there running and pettting both of them (Tommy gets jealous if you only cuddle with the cat ;) ) we had a lovely dinner with Carl and Maria, thanks again for your delicious cooking Maria! and as Carl mentioned we did pizza in their beautiful oven with their friends, it was our first time baking pizza and foccacia in this pretty place and we are happy everyone liked it, thanks for the wine! Carl gave us really good explanation to each task and always available if you have questions. The place is remote but Carl and Maria were super friendly with us, giving us rides to the supermarket each week and also time to go around and see Comares and Velez Malaga and even ask us via Whatsapp if we need anything. Stunning views between the almond and olive trees and a quiet place where you have a clear view on the stars in the night, no noise at all from outside and peace. Thank you very much again for this unique experience and see you soon.

Me quedé dos semanas y media en casa de Gabriela y tuve una muy buena experiencia. Estaba trabajando 5 horas más o menos todas las mañanas, 5 días a la semana. El trabajo era físico y estaba un poco agotada cada vez que terminaba, ya que tenía los brazos en alto todo el tiempo por sacar la pintura vieja con un cuchillo o lijar le el techo, pero siempre con sonrisa. También estaba haciendo algo de mantenimiento del lugar, como limpiar una vez a la semana, así como las cacas de los perros en el patio. Sin embargo, la comunicación era siempre muy buena. Además, la comida posterior fue deliciosa (especialmente su pancito y muchísima gracias de haberme descubrido el manjar!) y mi tiempo en Valparaíso fue realmente genial. Gabriela me recomendó muchos lugares e incluso me envió dos listas de cosas que hacer. Yo era el único Workawayer durante mi estancia, pero hablábamos mucho de cada comida, a veces un poco demasiado también haha y conocer a su hija Sofía fue un gran punto culminante de mi viaje. Tuve la oportunidad de visitar donde ella estudió y pasar un tiempo con ella los fines de semana. También paso Halloween con ambos y con la familia de Gabriela y estoy muy agradecido por eso. Durante mi estancia, dormí en un cuarto privada, a veces con sus perros y la manera en la que Miro me despertara cada mañana fue tan bacan. El baño es compartido entre nosotros y tiene una vista super hermosa del océano. Además, Playa Ancha es un barrio muy tranquilo y seguro con hermosas casas y rodeado de bonitas vistas también. Muchas gracias Gabriela por todo, no puedo esperar a ver que todos tus proyectos se conviertan en realidad y cómo se verá la casa en unos años. Y me aseguraré de pasar de nuevo si tengo la oportunidad!

Yumemi was such a joy to have around the farm. With her wits and emotional intelligence she was so fast to adapt and to spread positivity and serenity. She was very much appreciated by everyone in the house even with language barriers, which says a lot about her energy! Yumemi was quick to offer support in many different ways and quickly understood where she needed to help, picked up tasks quickly and handled the challenges of working on the farm with the construction team asking for her help so gracefully. She also had fantastic organisational skills. Her love for hammams and local village culture was really wonderful to see as well, soaking up the cultural exchange aspect with curiosity and respect. We would have loved to have her for longer, but more adventures were calling her name, so hopefully we will see you again in the future! Maybe so you can host a pottery workshop… :) lots of love Yumemi <3 thanks for your presence.

I spent two wonderful weeks at Marian's place. She is a very kind and welcoming person who made me feel at home from the first day. The work mainly involved gardening, which was clear and enjoyable. Marian also took the time to show me the island, introduce me to her family and friends, and involve me in activities within her local community. I also had plenty of free time to explore the area by bike. It was a great experience, and I would highly recommend staying with her.

My experience here was truly wonderful. The farm is truly a fairytale, peaceful place, cared for down to the smallest details. The entire Munirh family—Abdul, Ella, Fizi, and little Faleel—were each invaluable to me. Despite my limited English, I had no trouble communicating, understanding each other beyond words. Munirh, with her sweet smile, was always attentive and thoughtful to every need, both food (she shared delicious food with us every day) and any other needs, with kindness and thoughtfulness. Abdul, with his wisdom and understanding for every new thing taught and also explained curiosity, Fizi and Ella, hardworking, welcoming and ready to resolve any doubts, and little Faleel with his joy and kindness, a wonderful presence. The chores every morning with the chickens, geese and chicks and then the meadow, everything never burdensome and so many new things learned, relaxing by the river, tasting the fruits, the market, so many varieties of food... and so much more. An immersive and exciting experience. I felt like part of family. Thank you, I hope to see you again soon. PS I carry with me the sign of your affection. 🙏✨️
