Lina was a dream to have around, and our only complaint is that she couldn't extend her stay! A positive, curious, and energetic soul; ultra pleasant to work and spend time with. greatly missed already.

My stay at Guillaume and Frédérique place was fabulous: they were very kind and friendly, sharing their company during meals and aperitifs, helping me improve my french. They have a big family and everyone, from sons to nephews, is very polite and sociable. The work was easy and relaxing: wether it was cleaning, ironing, watering garden or helping in the kitchen, I never felt unease or tensions interacting with the hosts. The ambience was generally very pleasant and stimulating. Would definitely recommend!

Kerstin and Andreas make it very hard not to fall in love with this beautiful place an of course the people. We stayed here for two weeks and even helped build the pizza oven—so to all future Workawayers: you’ll definitely enjoy using it! Everything felt very harmonious from the start, and we never once felt unwelcome. On the contrary, we shared lots of laughs and spent great time together, both working, eating and exploring. The house is very well maintained and absolutely lovely. The room for Workawayers is charming and well equipped. There’s even a small desk, which was perfectly sufficient for getting our own laptop work done. The surrounding landscape is stunning—you could easily spend 2–3 days just exploring the vast property. There’s also a small, crystal-clear stream running through it, perfect for cooling off. In the nearby area, you’ll find beautiful little towns where time seems to stand still. Within walking distance, there are cold springs that form gorgeous natural limestone pools, ideal for a refreshing dip. And just a 20-minute drive away, there are thermal springs. We owe all of these amazing tips to Kerstin, and we’re incredibly grateful for the chance to explore this wonderful landscape—the wild heart of Umbria in the center of Italy.

Daphne was a respectful, helpful workawayer who did lots of outdoor jobs helping get our yard ready for Spring gardening. She now understand maple helicopter seeds and what a chore it is to make sure we don't have hundreds of maple trees growing everywhere! Cleaned and organized greenhouse ready for plants and got to be friends with our chickens, cat and dog.

We really enjoyed having Daphne to stay, she was trustworthy, friendly and great to talk to. She fed the animals and was patient with the children, who loved her. Hoping she has a fab onward journey!

I met Coraline in the airport around midnight. Inspite of just arriving from from a long haul flight, her energy stood out. Coraline is full of energy and also helped me with cooking. She was very kind to bring 2 bottles of red wine for me, for which I am so grateful. I am happy if she thinks I was able to give back a little bit for her kindness. Au Revoir :)-

Lena and Moe are such a lovely and adorable couple! They stayed with us for two wonderful weeks at the farm, creating many beautiful memories along the way. Full of positive energy and incredibly friendly, they got along wonderfully with everyone on the farm. What truly stood out was their heartfelt contribution to painting and decorating our bungalow. They poured their hearts and kindness into every brushstroke, working with such care and dedication. Remarkably, they finished the final touches on their painting just 15 minutes before leaving on their last day! We are incredibly grateful for their hard work and thoughtful effort. We would happily recommend Lena and Moe to any other host. They are responsible, intelligent, and a real pleasure to have around. Thank you both for everything! ❤️

This was the best experience ever, the surf camp started to feel like a family! Working in the kitchen with these amazing people was such a fun experience, they made me feel welcome and I tried to learn a lot about their language, which was a lot of fun and made them happy. The surf instructors were amazing aswell, always brought laughter in the days. my favorite part was the yoga, this rooftop is a dream! There were a lot of challenges connected, but they made me grow so much and I appreciate this experience a lot. Tamraght is also an amazing town!

Farsad and Hannah were a lovely Persian couple who kept smiles on their faces every day despite the difficult situation of their home country being at war. Communication with Farsad was sometimes challenging due to language barriers, but we always found a way to make it work. He was also an excellent cook who prepared several outstanding Persian dishes for us. Hannah was kind, caring, and sweet, always eager to help, and it was often hard to get her to stop working and take a break. We had a wonderful time together and would happily welcome them back anytime.

Jan Philipp and Lena were nothing less than fantastic. We would leave them a 6 star review if I could! They are some of the most competent young people we have ever met. Jan Philipp's technical skills combined with his enthusiasm helped us fix an old car, moody refrigerators, annoying doors, build a pizza oven, caring for sickly chicken and much much more. Lena's presence was amazing as she anticipated things that needed caring and work and by the time I got around to asking her help it was already done. Both went above and beyond. They are also very considerate around the house and emotionally intelligent. We were super lucky to have them and hope they will be back some day. Cannot recommend highly enough.

Peter is an honest, respectful and all round great guy! We feel very lucky that he came and helped us during this season. He is incredibly hardworking, can follow instructions easily, independently, and does his best each time. Physically, he is very strong and can do a lot of manual labour intense work easily. He helped us with strong physical work, but was also adapatble to help with any other work we may have needed such as cleaning, and house jobs. Peter was very easy and lovely to live with, he appreciates a simple life with nature, and always adjusted to fit any house rules, wanting to respect the home and the hosts. Socially, Peter is bright and bubbly, he loves to share about his life, experiences and interests and we had many great conversations together. Overall, Peter was an amazing workawayer that we can highly reccommend! Thanks so much for coming and hope to see you again soon! Arigatou :)

Marlon is a reliable, interested and hard working man. He helped us a lot with our garden. We planted some tomatoes, peppers and watermelon. Also Marlon moved a lot of pebbles to place a root protecting sheet. We visited Ronda and el Torcal together and had some meaningful conversations.

Nolwenn was an excellent workawayer. She was respectful of the space. She was responsible with equipment. Nolwenn did all tasks well, and for those not requiring supervision, she completed well without prompting. Nolwenn assisted in cleaning and cooking. INolwenn was bright and cheerful company. l stayed one week with my girlfriend at Ashwin's and Tanisha's Farm in Goa and we had a very lovely and wonderful time there. They are so welcoming and kind people, full of joy and passion- we immediately felt like home. We shared a lot of conversations together about so many different topics and we learned a lot from each other's culture. Ashwin made some really good Pizza, and together with Tanisha they made really good Burgers the night before we left. We also went for a walk together and learned something about birdwatching - there are so many beautiful birds out there! We met their neighbors with an incredibly cuddly dog and they showed us the Feni distillery. The location of their home is just perfect, far away from tourists and big city life, its just you, nature and all of the lovely locals. You can go around the little village and you will find so many beautiful things to see and even little cafe stalls where you can grab a snack or tee/coffee. We helped with a lot of things on the farm, we have been weeding between the Okra, polishing the tables, taking off big stones from the ground and we picked the grass in the entrance of their farm where the cafe is located (we all thought it would be done within two days but after 2 hours it was clear that its gonna take much more time haha- we have been working really hard on it and l think we did a very good job) Also the place you're staying in and common areas are very comfortable and always clean! They have a very kind Maid called Sunita which made very delicious not spicy food. Be aware that it can get extremely hot so bring the right clothing and also some working clothing! Their place is a very safe and welcoming place, even for LGBTQ! Which is a big plus and makes it easy to be the person you are without hiding 😊 thank you very much, It has been a very beautiful week and lm pretty sure once the cafe is open, its gonna be an even more magical place!😊

I spent a week with Ferdi and Franca, and I had a truly wonderful time. Most of my days were spent gardening, accompanied by a breathtaking view. I stayed in one of the yurts, which was incredibly cozy and comfortable. Ferdi is a wealth of knowledge and taught me so much about the local plants and a lot of other things. Both of them are such lovely people and took such great care of me. This was my very first Workaway experience, and I couldn't have wished for a better one. Thank you so much for everything :)

I stayed in a rural village in Wakayama for one and a half months, until the Satoyama Festival on March 15. The experience left a deep impression on me. On my first night, Preethi, a staff member at Kimino Machi from India, carefully introduced the house rules. Dinner was ehomaki sushi rolls, prepared in both vegan and non-vegan versions. Shota had just hunted a deer and shared fresh deer heart sashimi with us, talking about how hunting had made him appreciate food more and feel grateful to nature. The next day was Giorgio’s birthday, an Italian volunteer. Yuho brought out a cake she had prepared, Ai-chan climbed excitedly onto him, and everyone burst into laughter. Another volunteer from the U.S., Nana, and I bonded over dark political jokes—it didn’t take long to imagine what life here would be like. In many ways, Shota and Yuho, a young couple, have built what feels like an ideal “community”—diverse and inclusive, tucked away in the mountains of Japan. Shota shared his vision: starting from satoyama living, to bring people back to nature, to build a more sustainable way of life, and to create positive change in the world. Although neither he nor Yuho speaks fluent English, they have gone beyond language barriers, opening the home they built with their own hands to people from all over the world. March 15 marked the third anniversary of the community, so most of our work focused on preparing for the festival—repairing roads, clearing weeds, chopping wood, and taking care of the five chickens. The week before the event was the busiest. Volunteers from different countries worked in pairs and took turns cooking for everyone. Israeli dishes, Chinese home cooking, Indian naan, classic pasta—people generously shared recipes and flavors from their cultures. I even learned how to bake bread. Beyond the festival, the place also hosts a weekly potluck, where cultural exchange happens naturally through food. In a casual conversation, I asked Josee, a volunteer from Canada, why she travels. She shrugged, a little low in mood but certain: “I need a change.” And the change came. Before this trip, I had rarely thought about “identity.” Somehow, it took root in a remote village that requires several bus transfers to reach, quietly unfolding through the hands of a young couple. Perhaps it was Shota and Yuho’s influence—turning belief into reality through small but consistent actions. Shota built an outdoor kitchen in just two weeks, at a speed that left Anki, a volunteer from Hong Kong, amazed—though she, too, created a woven vine arch in an empty field within the same time. As for me, after getting tired from weeding, I would sit on the ground, watching clouds drift across the mountains, imagining the past and future of this land— the future is already in motion.

Had the most wonderful whimsy time at Kylie and Paul’s beautiful property!! With the other workawayers the farm felt like its own little family, everyone all working together with jobs & cooking meals. Both Kylie and Paul kept us constantly entertained with their many stories and Hamilton knowledge - be ready for some car sing-alongs! Both are incredibly kind and open-minded people who were helpful in showing us what North West Tassy had to offer. Kylie was kind enough to take us to Cradle Mountain and the Walls of Jerusalem, as well as give me some top notch podcast recs. Lorinna itself is a hidden gem you’d be silly to miss!!

I really enjoyed my time with Ines. Ines is an open-minded, social person who likes to have people around her. I liked the walks with her and the dog Snoopie. The work was a lot of fun, because I could choose myself what I wanted to do and could organize the work and freetime as I wanted. I painted a garden house. I recommend everyone to visit Ines and her oasis!
