We spent two weeks with Caroline in October 2024. At first, we struggled to escape overtourism in Vietnam, which is why we chose to do a Workaway — to experience local life and find a more authentic connection. And that's exactly what we found at Caroline’s place! The “work” consisted of teaching English to local students in various schools. It wasn’t too hard and was actually really interesting. It was our first time doing this, so we were sometimes unsure of what to do, but we were rarely alone. Most of the time, we simply helped the teachers and chatted with the students. We also helped a bit on the farm, but it rained a lot, so we mostly just cleaned the land. Caroline took us to many places — the local market, friends’ homes where they made rice cakes, restaurants, and more. There’s a lot to do in the area during your time off — just ask her. Her place is simple but sufficient. We slept in a bungalow at first, then in her home. Caroline is a very inspiring and courageous woman with great projects. We highly recommend this place.

Nous avons passé deux semaines chez Jean-Michel et Julie en avril 2024. Nous avons adoré notre séjour chez eux. Ils nous ont accueillis comme des amis, et nous nous sommes sentis à l’aise tout de suite. C’est un couple très chaleureux, au parcours inspirant. Nous avons pris soin du jardin et de leur adorable chien MeiMei pendant qu’ils étaient en vacances. Leur maison, avec vue sur les montagnes, est magnifique, et Telavi est une petite ville animée avec plein de choses à découvrir. Nous avons eu de longues conversations avec Jean-Michel, passionné de permaculture et plein d’histoires de vie captivantes. Julie, quant à elle, écrit des livres passionnants et possède une créativité impressionnante. Merci pour votre accueil ! Nous garderons précieusement les recettes partagées et un merveilleux souvenir de cette pause dans notre voyage.

We spent two weeks at Yunca Lodge in February 2024. It was our first time in Türkiye, and we really enjoyed this Workaway experience. The team managed by Daniela was friendly and full of interesting people. We met locals as well as people from different Turkish cities, which gave us a great insight into the country and allowed us to enjoy local life. We had our own little house near the beach, which was amazing — waking up to the sound of the waves was pure bliss. There are many things to do around during your days off, and it's easy to get around by local buses or hitchhiking. The food was delicious, and the place feels like a small paradise. The work involved cleaning the land and beach before the tourist season. It wasn't hard or boring, and the tasks were different almost every day. We spent our evenings reading or walking around. This break in our long journey was wonderful — we highly recommend this place. After that, we walked on the Lycian Way for a few days, which was also amazing.

Nous avons passé un mois chez Stavroula en janvier 2024. C’était quelques semaines hors du temps, dans ce petit paradis qu’est Gythio, au milieu des oliviers et à deux pas de la mer. Nous l’avons aidée à s’occuper de ses moutons chaque matin : les nourrir, nettoyer l’enclos... Stavroula est une femme inspirante, avec beaucoup de savoirs sur des sujets parfois méconnus pour nous. Nous avons découvert énormément de choses à ses côtés. Grâce à elle, nous avons goûté à la vie locale : marché, rencontres avec ses amis, exploration des environs de Gythio et bien sûr, sa délicieuse cuisine préparée avec des ingrédients frais. Elle nous a aussi emmenés au cap Tainaron le jour de l’anniversaire de Johnny — un moment magique. Ce n’était malheureusement pas la saison des olives, mais nous avons tout de même passé une journée sur son terrain, dans les hauteurs. Nous avons eu un vrai coup de cœur pour Gythio et cette pause dans notre long voyage restera gravée dans nos mémoires.

Tara was just fabulous in every way! Always willing to do anything asked and super efficient and onto it. She was able to work unsupervised which was also a great advantage for us. Friendly with all our guests and staff alike, we really enjoyed her company. Work involved housekeeping and kitchen-handing in our busy resort. We would love to have her back anytime

Rawinia is a wonderful person with a beautiful family. I had a great time with them. She has four amazing children that I was delighted to get to know. I shared many moments with them, whether playing games or spending time at the beach. I also went on vacation and got to discover more of this beautiful country with them. They all welcomed me into their family so warmly, despite the language barrier. Thank you for everything — I hope to see you again very soon!

Espectacular! El lugar es hermoso, lleno de vida animal y vegetal, y muy tranquilo. Andres fue lleno de energias positivas para recibirme y enseñarme, y la comida de Betsy es deliciosa. Al final, extendi mi estadia.

We had a rewarding stay at this Workaway and even decided to extend our time! Cam and Bill are really friendly and welcoming, full of great conversation, and very generous with food and drinks. The location near beautiful North Beach is a real bonus. Tasks were matched to our skills-we spent much of our time doing important bushfire recovery work on the farm, while Max worked on two cars, sorting various mechanical issues. It’s physically demanding, and the hosts appreciate dedication and a strong work ethic, so it’s best suited for those comfortable with hands-on work. We also appreciated the chance to work on our van, with Bill kindly lending tools and supplies. Everyone pitches in to cook, and we enjoyed meeting other lovely Workawayers. Overall, a fantastic opportunity for, hardworking travelers who want to contribute and learn. Thank you!

Natalia was without doubt one of the best work exchange worker we have ever had, she stayed for 5 months. She very quickly adjusted to life in Guatemala and we made her manageress within 2 weeks of her being here. She is also bilingual in Spanish and English. She has excellent customer service skills and a very positive attitude at all times. She is highly experienced in all aspects of restaurant, hotel and reception work. She works great in a team and was very well liked and respected by all of our staff. She has a lot of positive energy and always performs every job to the highest degree. I would highly recommend her. We feel extremely fortunate that she helped us out. She is loyal, reliable and trustworthy. We left her in charge of our dogs, house and the lodge for one month and she did an excellent job, she is very good with dogs and cats. We would highly recommend her. She is a team worker, diligent, reliable, trustworthy and professional in all aspect of her work. She was very good with our clients, has good customer service skills, always had a smile on her face, a hard worker and calm and collected at all times, she was a great help in the kitchen and reception. She can apply herself to any job easily and efficiently. A very good allrounder. She would be an asset to any business and team. She is extremely patient and happy to go above and beyond her duties here. We all enjoyed meeting her and will miss her.

This was my first workaway experience and I had an amazing time. Anaïs is a lovely human, very organized and helpful. I was mainly teaching kids english for 3 weeks and it was such a rewarding experience. I also had the opportunity to take spanish lessons with Anaïs and I was able to improve my spanish in a short period of time. The best part of the experience was the volunteer house that I shared with amazing people. We went on a lot of adventures and spent a wonderful time in Villa de Leyva. Thank you Anaïs for creating this wonderful experience. I enjoyed every second of it!

Mickaela & Fernando were amazing people ! We felt so blessed to be invited to their house in Santo Antonio do Pinhal. They certainly have a good project on the go there with this old house in the mountain but the view is amazing its so peaceful! Mickaela is simply the best cook 🧑‍🍳 I wanted to learn every dish she made, she served us always delicious meals and we were never hungry! Fernando had the best time working and listening to music with my husband :) and our kids all together really were cute to see. Their daughter is the sweetest. They brought us around town and made Brazilian bbq. They are the most kind and generous people. I truely wish for us to be back soon. I would highly recommend them!

Quiero agradecer de todo corazón a Natalia y a su hijo Lévin. ¡Ha sido un intercambio excepcional! Gracias a ellos, pude quedarme en la región de Jávea, en España, lo que me permitió practicar mucho más mi español — una experiencia realmente genial. También aprendí muchas cosas: nociones básicas de bricolaje, pintura, renovación, instalación de un sistema de riego en el jardín, limpieza del jacuzzi… y muchas otras tareas cotidianas que me enseñaron mucho. ¡Recomiendo esta experiencia mil veces! He pasado momentos maravillosos a su lado. Muchísimas gracias y les deseo lo mejor en el futuro 😊

Dec helped out at the hostel for a month in January. he was great with the guests, made sure everyone had a good time and was very responsible. I would highly recommend him to any hostel or Workaway who are looking for someone!

I spent 2 beautiful weeks with Rita. Rita was an extraordinary hostess and was able to receive us as last min volunteers with very little notice on our part. Her garden project, is a beautiful concept for mental, emotional, energetic, and spiritual healings. It was a delight going to the gardens each day and seeing the progress in our work helping the gardens breathe with our pruning, mulching, and TLC. I have a severe knee injury and not only was Rita conscious of making sure my tasks were appropriate, but she was also my medical assistant in helping me procure quick and excellent medical care in Bogota. I traveled here with my partner and another friend and we all loved the project, the gardens, the animals, the interesting conversations with Rita, and of course the wonderful family meals we shared together. If you have the opportunity I highly recommend this workaway!

Percy is one of the best helper ever! Not only he has very high level skills in everything that is construction, he is also very autonomous, responsible, proactive and initiative. He was invested a lot in the projects and you can feel the passion he has to complete them. Besides he is a rather reserved, easy going and friendly, helpful and loyal person. He stayed with us for a little more than 4 months and we miss him a lot! Thank you Percy for eveything: You are great! And you know it, we would love to have you back ;--)

I had an incredible time at Stella Del Mar! I came here with the primary purpose of practicing my spanish skills, and I was able to gain so much more than that. Speaking with the locals in town and the ranch hands working on the farm who only spoke spanish pushed me to practice and learn very quickly. I was able to compete in a beginners riding competition that we hosted on the farm and learn how to ride again with weekly riding lessons after not riding for several years. I was constantly surrounded by animals of all kinds which made me so happy, and I feel like I was able to better understand horse behavior and how to train/interact with them. I even enjoyed most of the work we did on the farm, and after working in the hot sun all of the volunteers would go to the beach to cool off. Luckily we were able to rent a car between the volunteers which was absolutely necessary to travel off the farm property because it's definitely too far to walk or bike. Everyone at the farm and the other volunteers were so welcoming and helpful, I made so many international friends and truly had a meaningful experience here that I will remember forever. There are so many things that I will miss, and I think I will absolutely have to return at some point!

Ich war für etwas mehr als 1 Monat bei Angel und den Kindern und hatte eine sehr gute Zeit. Die Verbindung nach Valencia, Supermärkten, etc ist gut. Zum Beispiel gibt es in den umliegenden Orten eine Bücherei oder ein Schwimmbad. Die Kinder sind alle nett und gut erzogen. Leider gab es zum Zeitpunkt, wo ich da war kein Fahrrad, da es durch einen Unfall kaputtgegangen ist

Maria is a great Host, I had the opportunity to stay with her in Castel Guelfo for almost 20 days. I was very comfortable there, in a room by myself. We were able to eat delicious food, we did some yoga in her house, and we went out to visit places in the surroundings, to get to know the people, their art and culture, it was a lot of fun. I helped her with her garden and the household chores and garages. Maria has a beautiful and huge place and she really has a lot of work and always needs a helping hand. Maria always looked out for my return and departure to take the transportation and see that I arrived safely and comfortably. She is a very generous and fun woman. I was really enjoying living among the customs and the Italian language, I would have liked to stay longer and learn and share more. Maria thank you very much for hosting me, I had a great time in your home. I hope to share with you again!!

We definitely recommend Anna and Ari to any prospective hosts. In the few weeks that they stayed with us, they really became part of the family and it was very sad to see them go. Their enthusiasm for their tasks made them a pleasure to work with.

Victoria has been one of my favorite workawayers! She is a very kind and considerate person with exceptional aptitude for communication, computer skills, cleanliness and takes initiative on all projects. She was courteous and generous with her time and in conversation. She's an excellent listener, a very adventurous person, keen to see and explore on her own or with others. We completed a charity website and made really tasty meals. I am grateful for her cooperation and for planning ahead. We sailed together, explored some offroad trails, hiking, limousine tour and she met a couple friends. Very polite and those who met her loved her. She also shares many amazing stories of resilience and is associated with an amazing charity that she created to help and support others. Highly recommend her and would be grateful to host her againa
