I have had great luck with five Workawayers this summer!
I have four more coming this week so I can’t host until after July 26. I can still take people sailing , work on a video project and help them navigate in New York.
If you have done carpentry and concrete work, contact me.
1) Jobs remaining are: help me with organizing and home repairs
painting, plastering, kitchen rehab, remove a wooden deck and fence, cooking and cleaning.
We can accommodate all dietary preferences as you will have your own apartment and kitchen to share with another Workawayer or two.
Non smokers only!
2) I am also working on a documentary pilot for cable TV on the diversity of people I sail with from Workaway and other internet sites. If you are friendly and have good English skills, you can be part of the video.I can also use a camera person, and sound engineer.
I enjoy introducing people to sailing, hearing their stories, and sharing cultural experiences.
I sail all summer off New York City along the mansions of Long Island, think Great Gatsby. I take out between 60-70 people sailing each summer in small groups mostly through my own Meetup group and CS. I like conversation , good stories and teaching sailing. Sails usually consists of 4-6 people from very diverse backgrounds and a mix of locals and travelers. We usually sail and then watch the sunset over the water. The pictures are not photoshopped. It is that beautiful.
I also organize the largest Meetup social sailing group in NY with over 1,600 members.
Public transportation to the center of New York is about an hour. The season runs from June to October. Email me for more information. I also take people to museums,The Bronx Zoo and the NY Botanical Garden. I like photography, video production, riding motorcycles, restoring sports cars, and horseback riding.

Help in the house
I could use help in building cleaning, repair, renovation, and organizing.
If you can play ukulele , violin or guitar, sing or any skill that can be showcased on a boat, that is a plus!
I am a born and bred New Yorker. Every year I am available to show people around NY. I have memberships to the New York Botanical Garden. I sail with mixed, eclectic groups of locals and world travelers. No two excursions are the same. Many of my 200+ guests (from other site) have said in their references, that sailing on my boat was one of their best experiences in their travels. I have been active on another hosting site since 2012 with over 160 references.
Having three Workawayers from different parts of the world share the apartment, has been an amazing experience to watch as total strangers become good friends.
We have a spare apartment in the house starting in June-July. We are about an hour train ride to midtown NYC.
In the past , I have let some sleep on the boat for a night or two. Sleeping in the boat is like camping on the water. I have had up to four sleep onboard. Two is more comfortable. I do not stay onboard with guests. I live ten minutes away. The boat has a toilet, lights, ice chest, radio, power to charge devices. Free showers and WiFi are on the land. The boat is at a private yacht club. A shuttle launch boat ferries people to and from the boat 24/7.
Volunteers would be free to come and go. Public bus is one block away. Train is five blocks away and goes into Manhattan.
