Description
I am 65, a Nature lover and live here for over ten years now. The property is 2 hectares sitting in a breathtaking natural spot inside the Taejo International Natural Park, right on the Spanish-Portugese border by the Sever river. Biodiversity is still very high in the area: I want to protect it by building a sanctuary for wild life, geared in particular to small-sized species, insects and plants.

The chance of actively participating and contributing in a hands on conservation project.
You will be living a simple, balanced and healthy life. Here nature takes over, you are immersed in it: you actually get to see wildlife up & close, (Hundreds of plant species, birds of prey, song birds, the mighty black stork, pretty frogs, lizards & geckos, wildboar, fox, mongoose, the endangered river otter, land tortoise, butterflies, dragonflies, etc.).
It is an ideal place for reflecting, resting and recharging... (Or writing, reading, painting, meditating, trekking...) Outside noise is just the birds, the wind and the waterfalls.
I believe it could make an unforgettable stage for Sensible, Intelligent & Cultivated People...
And, of course, you will improve your Spanish skills on the fly!!!
Kindly note that you should not consider this place if you are a person keen on being continuously connected on the smartphone to social networks, or taking pictures of everything, as this is disruptive to the environment we are seeking to have.
Help
Help is needed with general tasks such as stone wall maintenance, dead wood chopping and picking, land restoring, bush clearing, planting, etc.
It is mostly physical tasks involved, often demanding, so you have to be in good shape and like these things... The tasks is usually done in the morning, after breakfast.
Please if you decide to apply, specify your intended arrival and departure dates, and state the reasons and objectives why you made the decision to come here.

Accommodation
You will sleep in the Molino, a detached loft without electricity.
A small electrical generator is available for volunteers coming in winter months.
All meals will take place in the house, where bathrooms and toilets are available.
I love cooking and wine: you will be cared for properly during your stay, Mediterranean diet mostly. I expect your help everyday in mantaining the house clean and dishwash after meals.
Please note: The constraints of cooking for just a few people means it is not really possible to cater for strict vegetarians or individuals with special dietary limitations or allergies.
The house is solar powered, both for electricity and hot water.
You shall follow our policy of minimum pollution footprint in terms of chemicals use, and help with the waste disposal/recycling tasks.
There is a mountain bike that you can use to get around.
What else ...
Sited in the Parque Natural Tajo Internacional, the property borders Portugal by the Sever river. Marvao the picturesque village is just 5Km. away. There is plenty to see in the region, both in the Spanish and the Portugese neighbourhoods. From Prehistoric stone dolmens and cave paintings, Roman ruins, Castles and churches. Unexpensive good food and wine is everywhere.

Romain was with us for three weeks in August, helping with debarking, moving and storing firewood for the winter.
He developed a love relationship with Nena, the Chihuahua, and jumped to the pool from the roof!
