Description
We are sheep and beef farmers in a small community called Pongaroa. Pongaroa is located on the lower east coast of the North Island and is 1 hour from closest town. We farm on my family farm. On farm is Alex my husband, our 2 beautiful kids age 4 and 6, my parents and myself.
Growing up my parents had exchange visitors staying and would love to give my children the same experience of different cultures.Types of help and learning opportunities

Cultural exchange and learning opportunities
In their spare time visitors could get to experience a real life working NZ sheep and beef farm. They can get up close to lots of different animals and observe lots of different tasks undertaken depending on season.
Experience traditional kiwi food for dinner and we would love for visitors to share their traditional food as well.Projects involving children
This project could involve children. For more information see our guidelines and tips here.
Help
We are very busy on farm so would love abit of help around the house. Childminding our 2 children after school would be a bonus. At present our vegetable garden is out of control so need help to bring it back so can be more self sufficient. We have chickens, ponies, dogs and cat which all need daily feeding and care. This may not be a task you need to help with but just be aware we have alot of animals so must be an animal lover. Our family loves trying new foods so if they love cooking we would love to try some of their favorites.

Accommodation
Fully furnished 3 bedroom house can be provided for accommodation. There are 2 double rooms and 1 single. Accommodation will only be shared with other travelers. Will be visitor's job to keep this nice and tidy for themselves. House is across road from my parents and 3km away from our house. There is spark cell phone reception (not Vodafone or 2 degrees) and while the house doesn't have internet currently you are welcome to use ours when with our family). Breakfast foods will be provided at the house so can have in your own time. Lunch and Dinner will be with our family. We eat alot of farm fresh meat so ideally no vegetarians or vegans for ease of meals. Any food allergies will need to be known in advance as only food shop once a week.
What else ...
We live in a very remote community so having own transport would be ideal. Own vehicle makes exploring in time off easier. We can pick up/drop off in Masterton on Wednesdays as that's my town day. In spare time they are welcome to come on farm to observe. This may be out on farm mustering in sheep and cattle or in the yards working closely with them. Travelers can also go for walk to explore the farm.
Visitors will be part of our family. So will need to be slightly flexible as every day is different on farm.
